junkyardjeff Posted May 12 Posted May 12 I have a AMT mid 70s F350 coming and a unbuilt Mobius F 100 chassis that I would like to build like a truck I had years ago so are there anyone building regular 8 foot beds for that era of Ford trucks or will I have to take a couple of those F350 beds and make one myself. I had a 78 F 150 and would like to build one like it.
stavanzer Posted May 12 Posted May 12 That bed is unique to the Camper Special. It is very difficult to convert it into a 'regular' 8' bed. Best bet is to scrounge a bed from a Moebuis Longbed truck, IMHO.
1930fordpickup Posted May 12 Posted May 12 There is a resin bed for that switch. Morgan automotive I think. 2
catpack68 Posted May 12 Posted May 12 There is someone on that auction site that sells 3d printed short and long beds for the AMT 73-79 Ford pick ups.
Rbray47 Posted May 13 Posted May 13 I'd look for a resin or 3d bed. I've converted the camper special to regular, and it takes two beds to make it look correct. The spare tire well has to go, so the easiest way is using the inner bed from a donor. Also, for a 78, it'll need a gas door instead of a cap. 4

junkyardjeff Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 I need to check the Mobius frame to see if it's long or short,it's from the Mercury M100.
junkyardjeff Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 I have the cab coming from the Firestone truck so I think it has the 78 grille.

Bed outer designs are two different generations, ie moeb is '67-'72 and amt is '73-'79. The moeb frame is very close in design to the amt frame (in 1:1, the 67-72 and 73-79 frames are almost the same) and it's not too hard to adapt the amt axles front and rear to the moeb frame to expand your choice of wheel types. 1
Sledsel Posted yesterday at 04:31 PM Posted yesterday at 04:31 PM I bought some Standard 8' beds and 6' beds from Section8hobbies. They offer trim options also. Nice pieces. Best is to Email them and tell them what you want. Sells on Evilbay also. https://www.section8hobbies.com/s/shop
