gcthree Posted Friday at 02:04 AM Posted Friday at 02:04 AM Clyde Berryman left us a year ago and left a huge void here in Williamsburg, Virginia. Clyde was a life-long motorsports enthusiast and published author (QPRS: F1 Grand Prix Racing by the Numbers – 1950-2019: Berryman, Clyde P.: 9781854433152: Amazon.com: Books) who, over the years, amassed an absolutely significant collection of books, photographs, die cast miniatures and an assortment of dioramas that sought to bring historic moments in motorsports to life...all composed and built by Clyde. Clyde worked in the State Department, traveled the world and was a man of the world. But Formula 1 captivated him and his command of the series and the players was unequalled. His basement here in Williamsburg was expressly created to create his version of a motorsports museum and as a multiple time visitor, it was spellbinding…and goodness knows how much $$ is contained in that space. His wife, Gulay, is a world-renowned artist (www.gulayberryman.com) who work has been exhibited around the world. Gulay and Clyde could absolutely contend for the world’s most interesting couple! But given the size and scope of Clyde’s collection, dispensing it has proven to be difficult. (He also has a maritime collection in another room!). It truly has to be seen to be fully appreciated. At this point, we are at a loss on how best to manage this. The predominance of the collection are die casts and the reason for posting here. We are looking for ideas, suggestions or hopefully an overture to move the collection to someone or someplace where it can continue to be enjoyed. Here's a few photos...there's way more! Thanks everyone! Bob Weber
