M W Elky Posted May 22 Posted May 22 This makes a great slump buster build . Kudos to round 2 for making the new tooling as the fit was great . I highly recommend it . As for the build with a quick raid of the parts box a can of tamyia Italian red and some decals from slixx and voila it just falls into place . Most of the reference photos I’ve seen the car has carbs on a cross ram although I’m pretty sure the car was run with injectors on occasion so either should correct. In my opinion the AMT Chevelle body has more correct proportions than the Revell body. It might make good business sense to make a stock wheel base curb side version. gtx6970 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Looking good I had an original I sold maybe 2 years ago. Ive been thinking about one of these reissues and build this very car T
papajohn97 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Very cool AWB Chevelle Michael! World's fastest teacher on the drag strip in '65! The rear chromed steelie wheels and front Halibrands really make this build look accurate relative to period photos I've seen. Great job! I built and posted a non-AWB version of this car a few years back using the Revell kit and boy what a hassle to have to cut out the goofy integrally molded battery from the engine bay. I gave up trying to alter the rear wheels after the engine bay fiasco. Your build makes me want to take another crack at this car using this re-issued R2 kit.
