Anybody got any tips on transporting models in your car to a model show ? I'm in Florida and it is HOT this time of year, so it does get hot inside the car. Will be in the car for about 6 hours. Hate to have something I wrap them in make markes in the paint or stick to the paint. THANKS !

sounds like you have no AC in your car.. just put them in a cardboard box , dont wrap them up. roil up a towel or face cloth and lay between them..make sure you lay a few towels on the bottom of the box to help cushion the ride..that's just one way to pack them.. everyone has their own way that works for them..

Thanks, that is some help. Yes I do have A/C but stopping on the road or doing a little sightseeing when the car is not running it gets hot inside really fast.

Do you have any under-floor storage, like in the back of an SUV? That may cooler than on a seat or in a trunk.

Another thought, how about using a cooler?

I had the same thought, my wife has medication delivered in those every month.

Large 60 Quart Cooler, Towels, a couple small Icepacks. I'd cover it with something Light Coloured, and keep it in the shade.

Trunks can get really hot too. Check it every time you stop.

ok since you stopping and sightseeing get you some Dry Ice Pack. lay a heavy towel in the bottom of what ever you gonna transport them in, then the ice packs then another heavy towel then pack your models. Amazon sells them.

I'd be careful with dry ice. But not a bad idea. I'd wrap that in a towel, drape the whole cooler with something heavy to keep the coolness in.

Maybe fab up a quick and dirty over-box from construction foam, the type with foil on one side.

I use plastic storage containers.  Models are placed on a padding of paper towels or something similar.  Then more paper towels are placed in between models and around the edges of the container to keep them from rubbing up against each other or against the container.  Thin, soft foam stock works as well.  No need for extra protection against cold or hot if you are not going to be in such environments for long periods of time.

I had stored some models in plastic shoe boxes and one I wrapped in paper towels with printing on them.

Months later I took it out... the color print had reacted with the BMF and tarnished it to a gold color. The worst of it buffed out.

Not your case, but something to be aware of.

My vehicle has AC that barely works at all. In the past I've transported model cars wrapped in microfiber towels and paper towel, inside individual plastic storage containers, placed inside a cooler with ice packs. Worked great!
