NOBLNG Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Has anyone used this stuff? I bought a can on the recommendation of a local hobby shop. It seems to have a nice gloss, but it comes out like a firehose. Just wondering if anyone knows if it can be polished using conventional methods? The only info I can find on Vallejos site is what you see in the pic.
Mark W Posted May 27 Posted May 27 I have never used the spray can. Mainly I airbrush on my model planes, there is a better Vallejo out now called “polyurethane”. It is a great barrier for weathering. I know I didn’t answer your question, but it’s a great product through the airbrush. Pierre hand brushes Vallejo with !excellent! results, I hope he sees this post.
NOBLNG Posted June 2 Author Posted June 2 (edited) Well I am sure not impressed with this stuff.😕 After a week in the dehydrator it collects finger prints like crazy. They will wipe off with a very hard rubbing with a micro-fiber cloth. They can be polished off with Tamiya fine polishing compound, but more handling results in more fingerprints that again won’t wipe off easily.🤬 I guess this will wind up back in the pond…again.😕 I really like Mr. Hobby clear but the LHS I got this from is always sold out of stuff. Edited June 2 by NOBLNG Rubbed it harder.🥵
Dave G. Posted June 2 Posted June 2 It looks like, from your photos anyway, that it goes on way too heavy.

As I said, it comes out like a firehose…however that should have no effect on the finish durability. A week in the dehydrator should be plenty of time to have dried it completely.
johnyrotten Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Happy I stumbled across this, I've got a small brand new bottle that came in a used kit. Now I know to toss it out or give it away.
dmthamade Posted June 3 Posted June 3 I bought a can of this a while ago. Your description is spot on, sprays like a firehose. I think if you're doing a BIG project the spray rate ...would still be too much. It is flammable, so i often wonder what a spraycan flamethrower would be like.... I've been looking at different spray nozzles to try, (sprayed my shirt trying one of them) because with the lack of Tamiya sprays, i need to find something else. Vallejo has hobby paint sprays, i've tried 3 different colors, stuff works great!! Comparable to Tamiya sprays but limited colors. They come with two nozzles, the low discharge flow gives excellent control, never used the medium discharge nozzle. unfortunately the low discharge nozzle won't fit the clear can. Don

Don Good to hear the colors work nicely. I haven’t tried them and didn’t know if the clears only came with one nozzle or if mine was missing? I e-mailed Vallejo saying how disappointed I was with their product. They replied asking for photos of the label so they could determine the batch number for their chemistry department. I sent them along with a complaint about the lack of a low flow nozzle. I’ll post any further response I get here. Edited June 8 by NOBLNG
