ShakyCraftsman Posted May 31 Posted May 31 (edited) Hello Everybody This is a future build that I'm gathering parts for. It will be a heavy offroad B.C. logging truck. I'm going to use the AMT Kenworth Alaskan Hauler for the base truck. I've ordered a Detroit Diesel 12V71 from Auslowe, a Allison Automatic trans from 3D Concepts, the wheels are from 3D Concepts (6 spoke Daytons), the tires are from Paul at ST Supply (RoadX DT990 13:00 24.5's) the headache rack will be from Global (modified to fit) the rest of the logging stuff will be from a AMT logging trailer kit. Here is a concept picture of it. Those tires are 48.0" tall! So yeah it's BIG! Ron G Edited May 31 by ShakyCraftsman 4
Biggu Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Thanks , Ron, as long as I don't have to make the payments , or crawl under it to grease and change oil 😉 It looks the very part of a heavy logging unit that would most definitely be used on Vancouver Island, a nice honor too ... you nailed the look for sure !

Thanks Pal I still have a few (Ha ha) projects to finish first before I can start on it.😉 Ron G 1
BK9300 Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Ron, I like the drawings you use for your build designs. What program do you use? 1
ShakyCraftsman Posted May 31 Author Posted May 31 High Brian Sketchbook on my phone. It's crapy little program, but it's all I have. My computer took a dump several years ago and it's to old for the new windows program. Ron G 1
BK9300 Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Well, what you produce with the program works out well - great for visualizing your project. 1 1
Scott Eriksen Posted June 1 Posted June 1 .........nothing beats a buzzin dozen !! gonna be sweet! 1 1
ShakyCraftsman Posted June 13 Author Posted June 13 (edited) Hey all Well the "Buzzin Dozen" showed up today from Auslowe in Australia. This is a nice casting from Auslowe, but they did short me the air compressor.🤔 I replaced it with one from the parts box. It's going to be a squeeze to fit it in the A.H. Kenworth, especially with the twin turbos. 580 H.P. / 1,450 lb-ft torque. Ron G Edited June 13 by ShakyCraftsman 3
ShakyCraftsman Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Hey all I have the frame assembled for this build. I also have the engine and both transmissions fitted (I decided to use the 5 by 4 trans from the kit). I still have a long way to go on this one. This view shows the 12V71-TT with both transmissions sitting in place. This view shows the cab and hood in place. I have to increase the length of the hood by a scale 15" in order to accommodate the turbos on the engine. This view shows the rear Hendrickson RS walking beam suspension from 3D Concepts. This view shows the gap between the hood and cab that needs to be filled in. A little mock-up with the W/T's. Well that's all for now be back with more soon.
