Is the only difference between these 2 kits the decals and boxart ?

I have the Leal version, but not the Belv version to compare the 2 side by side

And sellers with the Leal car are asking insane money for them now

Quite Different Kits. I found unboxing videos of each, and a build article for the Stock kit. I have both kits myself. It has been a couple years since I looked in the boxes, but I'd guess they share about 50%-75% of their parts. But, I'll admit that I may be misremembering them.

The videos are more trustworthy than my memory.

Good Luck Finding a Flash Kit.

Scalemates Timeline shows that it has been released twice.

Those decals must be for a later car.  I don't remember him running a Dodge, unless he had one of the '68 Hemi Darts.  Leal took a year off from drag racing around that time to try his hand at pro golf, so I'm not positive about him having had a Dart.

Butch ran a Dart, don't know if it was one of the factory Hemis, and a Coronet as far as Dodges go. Don't know what classes they ran in, possibly with someone else driving, but they had the orange and white California Flash paint schemes.

Thanks all

Leal did in fact run a 1968 Hemi Dart ( unlikely it was an original LO23 car )  So these decals are for that car

As to when , I dont remember

I have a Leal Belv, but only the one and would like to build several more. But not at the typical ebay asking prices for the kit

Should have bought more when they were avail I guess. Same deal for the Sox and Martin SS 1970 Cuda kit I guess

Who knows. When something comes out and you buy several, it ends up getting reissued a lot with updated and extra parts. But if you don't get several, then it certainly won't be available again.

It's a safe bet that the Super Stock version will resurface at some point, but it will probably have decals representing someone else's car.

If I remember correctly, the Golden Commandos, (not AWB) and the California Flash kits, had a low production run. Might be why people are asking ridiculous prices for them on the bay? Come to think of it, many kits are overpriced on there.

This right here is why I buy 2-5 of certain kits.  Plus later on I can barter for something else.

I have both of these kits, BUT only one each

I have more than enough kits to keep me occupied for quite a while for when and/or  if the A990 car resurfaces even if with generic decals

I might be misinformed, but my understanding is that the Golden Commandos versions were commissioned by members of that group, so they could sell them (and autograph them) at various gatherings.  They did allow Moebius to sell X number of each version through their regular channels however.

The Melrose Missile was a Model King deal and was thus easier to get.  Not sure about the California Flash version.

The Leal kit is the only one with that body/engine combo so far.  There will be others (my bet would be on a Shirley Shahan version next) but right now, there isn't a choice.

Are the interior's the same ?

meaning the plain RO style door panels

Or is the Belv kit using the interior panels from the Satellite

Looks like the Belv kit has the hemi valve covers on the chrome tree so I might could use left over AMT heads and intakes on the Belv kit shortblock

Bill, The Belvedere I kit has the same interior as the California Flash kit. Except the engine is a wedge, instead of a hemi. Also the exhaust parts are different. Depending on what kind of transmission you plan on using, whether a stick or auto, the Moebius engine halves are all the same. So you can use either the auto or stick, and just add hemi heads and intake, valve covers, etc, if you have them in your parts bin. If you need any particular engine halves or heads, lmk and I’ll see what I have in each trans version. Using the Moebius parts on the Moebius block would be easier than fitting other parts, imho. Here are a few pics of the only Belvedere I non hemi car I built to show the parts. You can see the interior if you zoom in the first pic.

Hope these pics help some. This is the Belvedere I kit that I got in a trade last year. After looking it over it appears that I may have a couple of pieces that are missing.

Check the kit's parts against the instruction sheet.  Moebius kits sometimes have open space on a parts tree or two that give the appearance of missing parts when there are none.
