rossfox Posted June 18 Posted June 18 I will be getting ready to clear coat my Corvette soon. Should I wait to get all of the chrome pieces on first, or do just the body first with no chrome pieces on it.
stitchdup Posted June 18 Posted June 18 do you mean foil or bumpers etc? With foil you can do it before or after clear so its personal preference. i prefer to foil before clear myself but others like doing it after. I prefer doing it before clear as its easier to fix any knife slips. the bumpers are best added later as they dont need clear and if your polishing the clear they just get in the way.
StevenGuthmiller Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Just my opinion, but all paint work should be completed WAY in advance of assembly. Certain sub-assemblies can be painted as a unit, but clear coats on the body should be considered part of the painting process and should be finished before you begin any final assembly. Steve 3
rossfox Posted June 19 Author Posted June 19 Thanks all. So looks like clear and then add chrome pieces like bumpers, etc. Got it.
