Scott Eriksen Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Not on this now ,,but a future build ,,just snagged it on Ebay ,,looks like '73 vintage by the numbers on the box , always liked the snub nose 4270 and it's a day cab to boot ,,,I think they reworked the tooling on this to make the 4300 .I most likely will build it as a tractor,,not with the 903 ,, 8V-71 and a RT-910 Fuller , Rayco or Hendrickson spring , update the wheels painted 2 hole Budds on the rear and Alcoa fronts . This is a ways off time wise ,,,Friday maybe.....lol 2
Straightliner59 Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Yep! That's the original release. I picked up one of the cabovers, a few years ago--before AMT announced the re-release.😅 It has a great deal of sentimental value, to me, anyway. 2

leafsprings2 Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Nice find, great choices on upgrades, should really transform the kit! 2
Biggu Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Back in the day we had one as our low bed tractor. It had an 8v92 with a 13 spd. It was quite a comfortable truck to drive and the short hood helped with tight spots to get in and out of. I’m looking forward to your build. Sounds like it will be a worker. 1

I believe it's the only release as this kit never was re-issued after the 4300 came, the kit number 8001 IH 4270 was in the ERTL catalog for quite a while tho', at least up to 1980, so they might not have sold very well. 2

You're exactly right. One time, same as the CO 4070A, as I recall. 1

The new AMT kit of the CO 4070A is based on the original ERTL release, and as they didn't have the tooling wich was altered to the CO 4070B Transtar II back in 1976 they scanned the old kit and made new and improved ones. 1

I have been wanting to pick up one of the new ones. I haven't looked at one, yet, but it sounds like they're nice.
