A few weeks ago I got bored with sitting around waiting for my cataract surgeries to happen, so I went ahead and finished up this simple little project....

I based this project on a somewhat obscure and underappreciated Pyro kit.

Body modifications were limited to radiusing the rear wheel openings. Hood scoop was sourced from a Johan Superbird kit.

Wheels and tires came from a stash of old Monogram 1/32 Boss Willys and Hemi Fiat kits.

I bashed together a gasser front axle using aluminum tubing and a spring and radius rods cut from a Hemi Fiat junker axle and fine wire for the tie rod.... For the rear I made ladder bars from small Plastistruct girder and a set of shackles from some scraps of Evergreen I beam.

The rear weight bar was formed using aluminum tubing, small nails and fine wire.

The body was finished using Tamiya Metallic Red and Gloss Clear rattle cans. Decals are Slixx 1/64 items.

Admittedly not my best work, but I just really was itching to finish something.

Marty this is spectacular just like all your builds!  Your cataracts may be affecting your vision but you are still building in 1/32!  That’s great because I have a few 1/32 projects and my eyesight is deteriorating slowly but surely so I keep telling myself to get to those projects soon and then move onto increasingly larger scales.  It sounds like a joke but I think that’s my game plan.   lol   Anyhow Marty good luck with your procedure.  My elderly mother just got hers done and so far so good.   Cheers my friend. -Mark

I forgot to mention I too like some of the Pyro kits.  I have a couple Pyro motorcycles….1/16th I believe.  Ive yet to build them but they seem like pretty good kits for their vintage.

What a beautiful little car Marty. This reminds me of the old Monogram 1/32 scale gasser series. I think there were three in total. I know I built the Willy's and Fiat for sure. Bodies were in halves as were the engines. Real primitive. I'd like another chance at those today.

You took a sows ear and turned into a nitro burner. No small task.

Marty you are one of the most creative hot rod / drag car builders out there. I really look forward to your projects
