eldo60 Posted Thursday at 01:12 PM Posted Thursday at 01:12 PM any ideas on how to fix this without stripping the whole trunk, I don't think there's enough blue left in the can for that, I was thinking of a q-tip dipped in thinner, or mask it off and use the little paint that's left and just spray over it
64SS350 Posted Thursday at 01:52 PM Posted Thursday at 01:52 PM What exactly is that? No matter what paint you used, thinner will react with it.... To some degree! If that's paint from the roof, if krylon is sandable, wet sanding with a flat block is a start. Then blend the trunk. IMO 2
Beans Posted Thursday at 04:33 PM Posted Thursday at 04:33 PM I would be worried the thinner would end up making more of mess than fixing the issue. I would sand it and repaint the trunk. 2
StevenGuthmiller Posted Thursday at 04:52 PM Posted Thursday at 04:52 PM If the blue is a lacquer and the white is enamel, you should be able to remove the white with possibly some mineral spirits without damaging the lacquer. Chances are high that even if that works, you may at least have to clear coat to even the color. By the way, you have the same problem at the base of the B-pillar where the white bled under the tape. Steve
DJMar Posted Thursday at 04:53 PM Posted Thursday at 04:53 PM I would definitely try sanding that down with some very fine grits (2000, 2500, 3200 and up) to see if you could get the paint spill off. If the Tamiya paint underneath is fully cured, you might be able to remove most of it without too much damage to the blue underneath. Go slow, use a gentle touch and see what happens. You can always go back and use more aggressive grits if the finer stuff isn't working. Then, a trunk repaint. I wouldn't use paint thinner at all in this case. 1

Steve yeah, I'll probably chrome that part by B pillar don't have any mineral spirits, I'll probably mask off the immediate area and sand with a fine grit and respray
