JollySipper Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Hey, guys! I'm in the middle of an NSX kit from Tamiya........ I would really love to be able to put something on it besides the factory wheels. Would anyone of you happen to have a set of racing wheels you don't have plans for? They can be used, that's fine! They would get painted white, most likely. I would need the tires too. I have all four of these three wheel sets I could send in trade........ They can be from a kit, they don't need to be aftermarket........... Let me know if you'd like to help, thanks!
Exotics_Builder Posted July 13 Posted July 13 First, which NSX kit? The newer one or the previous generation? Then I would ask what you consider a racing wheel and if you are looking for staggered front/rear?
JollySipper Posted July 13 Author Posted July 13 Good morning, Gerry! It's the first generation Honda/Acura kit that I'm working on....... As for wheels, I believe maybe Volks wheels or similar would look really cool! Maybe even BBS wheels would work. If they were square, I may could use the factory wheels to widen the rears, maybe?
LDO Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Lots of options for BBS mesh-type wheels. I don’t know what size/offset would work with an NSX. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=bbs+wheels&_sacat=1188 Off the top of my head, the Tamiya Mercedes-Benz 500SEC “Lorinser” (a German tuner” has BBS wheels. So does the Monogram 20th Anniversary Firebird. The Mercedes is out of production and expensive. I don’t know about the Firebird. 1

Little Timmy Posted July 13 Posted July 13 That's what happens when you brake just a little too hard , you flat-spot the tires. 1
JollySipper Posted July 15 Author Posted July 15 Guys, I have a complete FD100 chassis that I can offer up here.............

Exotics_Builder Posted Tuesday at 11:12 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:12 PM These are tire/wheel parts that I will have to check to see if I still have them. I believe, many, if not all, are same size front/rear. If interested in any, I will check the wheel stash to confirm I still have them. 1
JollySipper Posted Wednesday at 12:00 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 12:00 AM Gerry, I went ahead and sent you a message! I hope that's cool............
Exotics_Builder Posted Friday at 08:00 PM Posted Friday at 08:00 PM Replied to your message today. Please read. Thanks 1
Quick GMC Posted Saturday at 05:34 PM Posted Saturday at 05:34 PM If Gerry can't get you sorted out, nobody can, but just in case, let me know, I have a bunch of wheels 1

The set he likes that I have offered in a 19 inch wheel same size all four. Whereas that might work on the rear, I think he will face a clearance problem on the front. I did find a set Hobby Design Michelin Pilots that could work if he trims down the front wheel width. FUjimi offers 17 inch TE-37's but I don't have them and they still would be same size all four. I just messaged him about the options I have. Sadly, I don't have a lot of what he is seeking in that wheel style or similar. Most of my period wheels/tires of that area are Ferrari based or US vehicles. Hopefully, we can come to a conclusion to get get his build moving forward
JollySipper Posted yesterday at 12:05 AM Author Posted yesterday at 12:05 AM (edited) I never said I had a problem with same-diameter wheels for the NSX....... In fact, I didn't even KNOW that they were different 'sizes', just thought they were wider in the rear. I don't believe a scale inch will make much difference.......... They are. 205/50ZR15 tires on the front and 225/50ZR16 on the rear. Do you want the original tires or the narrower front Pilots I found. The big thing is do YOU like the clearance and look it will likely give you? And it can make a difference on some models. I had "fun" getting different wheels for one of my Alpha Model Kits. The front wheel well was too tight for decent clearance and had to work around that. Edited yesterday at 01:03 AM by Exotics_Builder
