Dragline Posted July 17 Posted July 17 A car I liked quite a bit when new. We ended up with a 4 cylinder Jeep Wrangler that my wife fell in love with. Not sure of a color yet. Something light and bright with a light interior. Windshield and roof are one big clear piece. I like the interior engineering on this one. The chassis is also nice. Not sure about the chrome water pump though. What were they thinking? Light detailing and smooth paint are on tap. Just a car I always liked. Understated, yet still quick. 3
iamsuperdan Posted July 17 Posted July 17 I had a '95 Camaro Z28 Convertible a few years ago. Excellent car, very similar to the Firebird Formula. Still miss that car. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this. 1
DJMar Posted July 18 Posted July 18 I do love a 4th gen 'Bird, especially ones prior to the '98 refresh. I never built this particular kit, but it looks like a winner. AMT was cranking out some good stuff in the mid-90s. 1
Simo5555 Posted Friday at 07:11 AM Posted Friday at 07:11 AM Ooh, i'll keep an eye on this 😁I'm actually quite a huge fan of old firebirds 1
Dragline Posted Saturday at 12:22 PM Author Posted Saturday at 12:22 PM Progress made on the chassis and motor. I've decided on Stoplight Red Metallic in the little Testors bottle. Tan interior should complement it. The paint for the chassis has an undercoating effect. This paint has been discontinued (of course). It has a great finish that looks like scale undercoating . I'm gonna miss it like Testors buffing Metalizers. 5
espo Posted Saturday at 05:14 PM Posted Saturday at 05:14 PM Like the chassis and engine detailing. 1
slusher Posted Sunday at 05:20 PM Posted Sunday at 05:20 PM Looking very nice. Stop light red will really look nice on your model.. 1

Dragline Posted Monday at 11:07 PM Author Posted Monday at 11:07 PM Regular ole flocking. It's on the floor in the interior as well.
Dragline Posted Monday at 11:12 PM Author Posted Monday at 11:12 PM Forgot the wheels. Stripped the chrome and went with AK Extreme Metal polished aluminum. Good stuff. Ready to spray, no thinning needed. 4
Dragline Posted Tuesday at 11:30 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 11:30 AM Messing around with rust and pigments. 2
ksnow Posted Tuesday at 06:52 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:52 PM Chassis detail looks great. Always loved the Formulas. 1
Dragline Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago Looks like this is a 2 jar paint job. I can usually get away with one jar of thinned Testors enamel for an entire car. If it's opaque paint I have a 100% success rate. But candies and metallics like a few more passes. Off to the local Michaels. They have a nice Testors rack and few kits. They are allegedly ramping up the models section. Or so the manager keeps telling me. 2
dino246gt Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Looks like a fun build, love the picture sequence! Great interior colour! That chassis weathering is great too! Keep posting, we love it! 1
Dragline Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago Thanks Dennis She will get there. Thanks for dropping in. 1
espo Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Also like the color. Painted T-Top roof panels rather than tinted glass? Exhaust looks like it has seen a few mid-west winters with salted roads. 1
