Salvinos’s JR Club Member Petty Monte Carlo

Picked this one up on eBay, was opened complete and at a fair price for a friend of mine. Took a chance on the body which is molded in Vermilion Red and left it unpainted, then added the kit decals. I used one of Clay Kemps tricks I saw on one of his YouTube videos, applied the “Petty Blue” decals, held the body up to a lamp with an older incandescent light bulb to soften the decals, then applied generous coats of “Mark Fit Strong” setting solvent. With a LOT of patience and a lot of solvent the decals actually snugged down with minimal damage. Again, plastic dealer tag was used to cover up some of the ugly sink marks and was also used to close the large gap under the rear of the body!

Clean looking chassis.  The Petty Vermillion fairy easy on the Chargers/ Roadrunner.  Never thought about the other of Petty's race cars.  You made it look seamless!

Thanks for the kind words, I decided to leave the roll cage in the molded in vermillion as well just to set it off a little.

Nice clean build. I'd buy & build more of these if not for the many issues. 

The rear trailing arms NEED to be corrected....

Yeah Dave I definitely agree! Always thought they looked “off”, is that correct scale one in your picture from the old AMT or Monogram kits? I’m guessing from looking at it the AMT?

Beautiful build, Melvin. Your model looks better than the box art. I wish Salvino's would do more older kits like say from the sixty's as well. Super clean build and stance looks perfect as well along with an excellent paint job.
