MonsterFan88 Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Hello everyone I'm new here I wanted to post this for all to see hope you enjoy the photos let me know what you think all constructive criticism is appreciated, I'm currently working on a gunslinger monster truck build and using online photos... here's where we are 4
NOBLNG Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Welcome to the forums Timothy. Great start on your project. It looks like you are taking a very methodical approach to the layout of your frame and cage. They look excellent!👍
SpeedAndViolence Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Looks fantastic! What are you using to ensure the frame is straight? I would really like to try something like this using styrene rod/tube myself before stepping up to soldering brass tube.

I'm just using folded paper, I use the folded paper as a frame stencil for the cage and lots of eyeball work with reference photos, what I've done is measured the inside of the cab side to side and then front to back once that's done I use styrene tubing and brass rods inside the tubing for support every piece should be bent into place so that it fits if things are squeezed into place it warps the whole thing for the frame I cut styrene sheets and glued them together to make square tubing and put filed copper rods inside the frame for rigidity in the photos you can see I had to cut the front end and lengthen it I'm going to be working on the truck some more in the next little while, until next time happy building Timothy Auger 1
MonsterFan88 Posted Thursday at 08:19 AM Author Posted Thursday at 08:19 AM Hey what's up everyone, I'm back with some more progress photos, I woke up today and discovered some separation with the joints on the frame and cage nothing a bit of thin cement can't fix, it's been a process but going great I finished the shock towers and some other pieces, I'll be starting the bottom half of the chassis and see what happens with that, I've got a little system so nothing goes wrong, let me know what you think I'll see you on the next one 😎👍👋 1
meechum68 Posted Saturday at 03:43 AM Posted Saturday at 03:43 AM Following this! I like the way this is going!
MonsterFan88 Posted Saturday at 04:23 AM Author Posted Saturday at 04:23 AM Hello everyone I'm back with some achievements in this project, here's where we are, I did notice that the right side of the chassis is in scale inches about 2 1/2" or more lower than the left side so I'm going to cut the top off a bit and see if that works, so far we're looking good 👍 😊
MonsterFan88 Posted Saturday at 07:42 AM Author Posted Saturday at 07:42 AM (edited) Here's some more photos, I was mocking up the body with the cage and letting the imagination run 😁 Edited Saturday at 07:50 AM by MonsterFan88
MonsterFan88 Posted yesterday at 05:43 AM Author Posted yesterday at 05:43 AM I'm back with some more progress trying to get to the paint ready point, here's some more photos of the chassis I'm working on the shock tower mounts and four link mounts then floor and finally paint 🎨
MonsterFan88 Posted yesterday at 07:31 AM Author Posted yesterday at 07:31 AM I'm now getting some serious scratch building happening with the linkages here's a look at the process so far
