I've never had an issue with the gas cap. I always look becouse I drive so many vehicles I can never remember.

The biggist issue I have right now it going from a 6sp manual in my dads 08 Civic SI. to the 5sp manual in my 08 Impreza. when I drive my dads car I forget to shift to 6th, or when I'm driving my car I almost put the car in reverse.

I know this reply is a little late but I just had to throw it in, on my car I have 2 fillers one on the right one on the left, now you'd all think what's his problem well the problem is that the one one the right is for L.P.Gas. (propane in your language) the one on the left is for petrol ( gas in your language) the L.P.G. is opened using a key, the petrol remotely and it's bloody annoying when you get out of the car after using the L.P.G. filler for a few months and have to put petrol in only to find that as one other forum writer said you end up going back to the drivers door to pull the release cable yes a cable and if it breaks there's no way in except with a screw driver to lever that blasted door open and ruin everything. Car manufacutrers I think get together with every new car that's about to be released and have a big talk fest on how to screw the car owner for fun, we should all band together and not buy new cars but stick to the ones we own and love and know so well and that also goes for the oil comoanies who s crew us on fuel prices, they say oil is running out no it's not and it never will BUT that's another subject.

I miss the old days where you had the filler neck right dead center in the rear of the car. Now for obvious reasons safety wise, they're no longer put there.

 one of the neatest things about all these newer cars....is the ARROW on the dash that shows you which side its on!!!!! B)

One thing I didn't know until I bought my Saturn a few years ago, I noticed a tiny little arrow pointing to the right by my fuel pump icon on the gauge.

They say you learn something new every day.............I thought it was there for decoration!

I don't see why all automakers don't just standardize this. Put ALL gas caps on the same side of EVERY car.

How simple. How logical.

It'll never happen... B)

I think the reason for the filler on the passenger side was more of a safety issue for people who might run out of gas. Try dumping in a gallon or two on the shoulder of a busy freeway with the filler on the driver's side. Now there's an adrenalin rush...

This past weekend in Ohio, I had my '87 Mustang GT out, and pulled up with the left side facing the pump, as I would in my Jeep. Alas, the Mustang has the door on the right side (hadn't driven it in a while). Later the same day, I drove my '69 Mustang, which has the gas cap on the rear. Then the next day, I had to fill up my Town Car rental, which had the door on the right side also.
