FoMoCo66 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 (edited) I got some more work done to the galaxie theses past couple of weeks. The front suspension on this car as a result of the metal axle was not fully represented and cut off. So I took the dremmel to them and chopped them off. I stole the lower a arm from the revell 57 ford wagon, they are pretty much the same on the real cars. Holes were also drilled for the new sway bar. Being as this car is supposed t be "hot rodded" I couldn't leave the stock exost, especially with the 4 into 1 headers. First thing I did was to chop off the original muflers, then filled the space with some evergreen flat stock. I also carved slots in the stock exost for some custom mufflers from the parts box. Then to get from the rear axle to the bumper I just used some copper wire that was laying around in the shop. Something cool I noticed about this car are the mold ingravings on the chassis and underside of the body. On the resess for the fuel tank you can see that Ertl went in and machined the tooling flat and added their own logo. And on the underside of the body just behind the rear window you can see the original amt engraving. Then I got it all painted in semi gloss black and picked details out with different metal paints from testors. The body was also shot with primer and I was pleased to find out that my new tamiya paint stand fit perfectly in my dehydrator . Now it was time to move on to the interior. One thing i thought would be cool would be to make a custom hurst t handel shifter. Decided to go with a black interior, red would have been cool but it probably wouldnt go well with dark metalic blue. There was a lot of chrome to do in this kit but with some help of the new fusionfirm chrome on the dash it made it less intimidating. Also couldn't resist a moch up. Thanks for looking everyone! FoMoCo66 Posted September 2 Author Posted September 2 Whelp, I did something. I was looking at Steven Guthmiller's tips and technique for weathering chassis. I think it turned out really good, the grime on the transmission really pleased be because they usualy always have a layer of grime. This is exactly what I was going for, some guys weekend car, he cleans the body, engine bay, and interior but not the chassis. Thanks Elliot 10
customline Posted September 13 Posted September 13 That looks real, Elliot. Rusty and dusty. Nice work! 1
TarheelRick Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Some super nice detail work on one of FoMoCo's finest bodies. Just wondering if you are going to do anything about the mold lines on the front bumper. 1

My plan was to paint the area inbetween the bumper and grille body color then redo the bumper with some fusionfirm.

I want to try this, but am not quite clear on how to do it! Edited Saturday at 09:32 PM by Kanada Kustoms

This way you dont see the the primer as a small ring around the emblem.

Then spray color and clear. Then polish away the paint on the emblem to reveal the foil. Do I have this right?

Kinda you got all the way to the bolded part right right after color when its still a little tacky come in with a q tip (tightly packed one like what tamiya sells) soaked in laquer thinner and rub it away. Then do your clear. This way it is easier to reveal it, if you do it with color and clear its going to take a lot of rubbing to get it to show. 2
