Finished up my Jungle Jim funny car. My intention was to build this kit out of box just to add a funny car to my collection. I had read the comments and saw builds of others here and on the web but I didn’t realize how bad this kit is until I had it in my hands and compared it the the reference pictures I found online. As most of you probably know it’s not very accurate. I modified the body by moving the front wheel openings forward. Then I cut off the front bumper ends and tucked them in to the body. Looking at pictures it seemed to me the Camaro body didn’t have a cutout on the hood for the supercharger. I think that was on the Vega body which would make sense since that body is probably shorter. Hard to really be sure with the limited number of pictures out there which is kind of surprising since this is such a historic car. The chassis was really bad. Very toy like and inaccurate. I found a free funny car .stl file online and after manipulating it in Meshmixer I think I was able to print a decent chassis. Not an exact match to the 1:1 but definitely better than what came with the kit. Front wheels are from the kit and were modified. I thinned down the spokes and reduced the diameter of the hub which looked like something from a 4x4 truck. Front tires are from my parts box. For the rears I went in the opposite direction. I used the kits slicks and wheels from the parts box. They were sprayed Alclad polished aluminum then Alclad exhaust manifold. Body was primed with Tamiya Gray laquer primer and shot with Dupli-Color BCC0422 which is a Chrysler color then cleared with their 1K clear.

Thanks for looking.

Forgot to mention I also added the upper struts on the wheelie bars, made aluminum panels for the drivers cockpit out of styrene and Alclad polished aluminum, and printed a set of funny car  zoomies. Fuel tank is also from the parts box.
