Chuckyg1 Posted Tuesday at 01:57 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:57 PM I had no definite plan when I started this, it evolved along the way. The chassis and engine are OOB. I wanted to do something with the head lights, and used lights from the custom griil in AMT's '53 PU, removing the bars. The lenses are cut down LEDs from an old flashlight. The rear window came from the '53 also. Tail lights from Revell '48 ford. The bed and side rails are made from coffee sticks, stained and cleared. The interior features a '49 Merc dash. '65 Galaxie rear seat with added head rests, and I believe the steering wheel is from a '53 Ford. The shifter is a shirt pin. I replaced the antenna with wire. Flared tubing was used for exhaust tips. Wheels/tires came from an Aoshima it. Paint is duplicolor dark garnet red metallic over Krylon color max gray primer. There's some minor paint flaws, but I think the finished product looks pretty good. It was a fun build. Comments welcome. Thanks for looking. 3
stavanzer Posted Tuesday at 03:16 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:16 PM (edited) A subdued paint job, tasteful custom rims, subtle custom touches all add up to a Superb Truck! This is really a Home Run Build. Excellent work. Good Show. Edited Tuesday at 03:16 PM by stavanzer
dragstk Posted Tuesday at 08:47 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:47 PM Nice job, John! Your choice of wheels is not the usual. I think they work well
espo Posted Tuesday at 09:02 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:02 PM Great looking paint color and door signage. The headlights give it a more updated look. Interested in the whip antenna that you added. Like the bed side boards. Built one of the original issues of this kit and they had a plastic representation of the side boards at that time. Nice bed floor.

Nice bed floor. Happy you like it David. The whip antenna came from the Revell Chevrolet/GMC mean mudder van from waaay back in the day. I used wire for a better look. The tip was dipped in white glue, allowed to dry, and repeated until I got the look I wanted. Then I hit it with the chrome pen. Thanks again. 1
