I am wanting to recreate the 75 Buick Century Indy pace car that I had years ago. Does anyone offer one in 1/25 scale, in resin, or 3D printed?Ā

Ā

Thanks

Tim

Did you have decals made for that one?

Ray's Kits did the decals for it. This was professionally built from one of my resins a couple of years ago (not by me).

That’s amazing. Ā When they were new, my dad worked for a Pontiac/Buick dealership (in Canada), and he had one of the street replicas as a demonstrator for the whole summer. Ā Being a car nut I was thrilled with it. Ā As a side note, everybody who saw the car called it the ā€œFree Spiritā€, not the Indy pace car replica…

Pretty sure Buick called them "Free Spirit" too.

I remember seeing one in the showroom of the local Buick dealer back then when my grandfather had to go there for a part for his '68 Electra 225 Limited.

My cousin Ron had one of the grey '76s in the mid 80s. I got to drive it on a 120 mile trip one night. Great car.

The same Frederictom Pontiac/Buick dealer had 2 of the mid-'80s slant back Grand Prixs in at the same time, side by side one day wehn I was there.Ā

MacDonald Pontiac/Buick, IIRC. but it's been decades since they closed.

Well, yeah, it said ā€œFree Spiritā€ on the side of it, but IIRC that was the slogan that Buick was using at the time. Ā Young aspiring gearheads like myself knew that it was a pace car replica and would tend to refer to it as that. Ā I used to spend a little time at the dealership back in the day, when my Dad would take me there, so I wouldn’t call myself unfamiliar with Buick stuff from the era… though I was admittedly more of a Pontiac fan at the time.

Likewise, because I’m right! Ā lol

Actually despite the norm of the internet these days being to argue anything and everything, even a comment that was just meant to be an amusing anecdote that hopefully someone would find interesting, I really don’t like to argue. Ā I hate it actually.

So… I’m sure you’re right, Steve. Ā I concede.

Let's just say it could go either way. I know I've always just seen them refered to as Free Spirits but so may years, so many cars.Ā šŸ˜‰

One thing I definitely know for certain, Mark, is that I don't know everything. 🤪

The build was amazing. I had a customer who bought basically anything I cast and had them professionally built for his collection.
