I am wanting to recreate the 75 Buick Century Indy pace car that I had years ago. Does anyone offer one in 1/25 scale, in resin, or 3D printed?

Thanks

Tim

Did you have decals made for that one?

Ray's Kits did the decals for it. This was professionally built from one of my resins a couple of years ago (not by me).

That’s amazing.  When they were new, my dad worked for a Pontiac/Buick dealership (in Canada), and he had one of the street replicas as a demonstrator for the whole summer.  Being a car nut I was thrilled with it.  As a side note, everybody who saw the car called it the “Free Spirit”, not the Indy pace car replica…

Pretty sure Buick called them "Free Spirit" too.

I remember seeing one in the showroom of the local Buick dealer back then when my grandfather had to go there for a part for his '68 Electra 225 Limited.

My cousin Ron had one of the grey '76s in the mid 80s. I got to drive it on a 120 mile trip one night. Great car.

The same Frederictom Pontiac/Buick dealer had 2 of the mid-'80s slant back Grand Prixs in at the same time, side by side one day wehn I was there.

MacDonald Pontiac/Buick, IIRC. but it's been decades since they closed.

Well, yeah, it said “Free Spirit” on the side of it, but IIRC that was the slogan that Buick was using at the time.  Young aspiring gearheads like myself knew that it was a pace car replica and would tend to refer to it as that.  I used to spend a little time at the dealership back in the day, when my Dad would take me there, so I wouldn’t call myself unfamiliar with Buick stuff from the era… though I was admittedly more of a Pontiac fan at the time.

I'm not gonna argue with you Mark. 😁

Likewise, because I’m right!  lol

Actually despite the norm of the internet these days being to argue anything and everything, even a comment that was just meant to be an amusing anecdote that hopefully someone would find interesting, I really don’t like to argue.  I hate it actually.

So… I’m sure you’re right, Steve.  I concede.

Let's just say it could go either way. I know I've always just seen them refered to as Free Spirits but so may years, so many cars. 😉

One thing I definitely know for certain, Mark, is that I don't know everything. 🤪

The build was amazing. I had a customer who bought basically anything I cast and had them professionally built for his collection.

My molds have deteriorated so the castings are not as sharp but I still have the Pace Car molds. I haven't been casting much because 3D prints are a lot better. I mastered these myself from diagrams.

Thanks!  Sorry to hear that your molds have deteriorated, but that’s how it goes.  At the moment I’ve stopped all my purchasing from the US due to the perfect storm of a very recent Canada Post strike and various international trade actions that have made purchasing from the US much less convenient and desirous for me.  The Canada Post strike is really a no-go, as everything stops at the border, and it does not seem like a resolution is anywhere near to being close.

I have found a 3D printer in Canada that has printed a number of kits for me, and his prices and quality are very good, so hopefully there will be a kit design of this subject matter that shows up on the Cults 3D site one of these days.  That’s how I’m rolling for now at least.

I really respect and enjoy looking at your work, though, and appreciate your sharing photos of it with us.  It is top-notch stuff!
