James2 Posted September 6 Posted September 6 (edited) I’ve been wanting to build a Tom Daniel’s show rod but without the expensive purchase. Soooo, I’ll build my own show rod! Z’d frame (blocks will be shaped), chopped pickup bed and roof, crazy wheel/tire combo and a double blower Olds engine. Should be easy, right? Edited September 6 by James2 9
bill-e-boy Posted September 6 Posted September 6 If you have one use the chassis with the suicide front end from the AMT 23 T roadster or tall coupe - the chopped coupe, fruit wagon etc. The T is easy to Z I have added a Z to the back of a 29 Chassis I will put up a pix of the AMT T chassis when I find it 2
bill-e-boy Posted September 6 Posted September 6 I like your concept too Found the pix I was looking for 1
FoMoCo66 Posted September 7 Posted September 7 (edited) Hell Yeah! I agree with bill-e-boy, a suicide front suspension would look more at home on a show rod, pretty much all of them have them (straight axle ones at least). Edited September 7 by FoMoCo66
James2 Posted September 7 Author Posted September 7 (edited) Instead of a perched support, I’m doing a variation of this elliptical front suspension and drop axle. Edited September 7 by James2 6
FoMoCo66 Posted September 7 Posted September 7 I stand corrected, that's going to be way cooler and way wilder!
James2 Posted September 7 Author Posted September 7 Stance is now set, axle brackets to follow. I should mock up the dragster axle shouldn’t I? 3
customline Posted Wednesday at 02:09 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:09 PM All righty! Quarter eliptic springs out front? You don't see that very often. Cool idea, Rooster! How we gonna dampen the bounce? Knee actions? I'm following 🙂
