Jay Lankford Posted October 9 Posted October 9 This is my first post. My version of the Revell Kenworth dump truck. I built it on my dining room table and painted most of it in my garage. For what it's worth, I'm 69 years old. 6
vincen47 Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Welcome aboard! Nice build. I like the paint choices and detail trim. I hope to see more in the future. 1
Jay Lankford Posted October 9 Author Posted October 9 Thanks for that welcome and kind words. First build in a long time. Since 08'. Here is my version of the original issue Revell Honest John missile transporter in 1:48 scale. Built circ. 2000. 4
Jay Lankford Posted Thursday at 11:36 AM Author Posted Thursday at 11:36 AM Hood down. The kit I used to build this model was purchased at Old Model Kits. Com. A great resource. 3
Biggu Posted Thursday at 02:54 PM Posted Thursday at 02:54 PM That turned out excellently ! Love the extra details. Very clean and precise. I will have to refer to this when I build mine. Great job
Jay Lankford Posted Thursday at 04:20 PM Author Posted Thursday at 04:20 PM Kind words indeed, from a builder of your caliber. Not having built a model in almost twenty years, photo etching and 3D printing didn't exist. Anything seems possible now, and having perused some of your work and others, mine seems "novice". 1
Jim B Posted Thursday at 08:16 PM Posted Thursday at 08:16 PM Great looking Kenworth. Very well done.
Jay Lankford Posted Friday at 06:51 PM Author Posted Friday at 06:51 PM Thanks Jim B. First build in a really long time. Looking to get back into it before I'm ashes. 1
BK9300 Posted Friday at 11:43 PM Posted Friday at 11:43 PM Great entrance for your first post - looks amazing! Great to see the little details, when zooming in, like the frame decals, and filters, and all the detail in your headache rack. Well done!
Jay Lankford Posted Friday at 11:51 PM Author Posted Friday at 11:51 PM Thanks so much. I never build a stock kit. And I never start a build with a preconceived notion or idea in mind. I just get started and see what happens. This being a prime example. Again, first build since 08' but looking to get back at it.
Kanada Kustoms Posted Saturday at 05:48 PM Posted Saturday at 05:48 PM Wow, awesome build... Great color choices!
grodudulle77 Posted Sunday at 04:45 PM Posted Sunday at 04:45 PM Very nice build , i really like the colors!!👍🙂
Jay Lankford Posted Sunday at 05:37 PM Author Posted Sunday at 05:37 PM Chris, Kanada and Grod, Thanks for looking and commenting. The colors seem to have caught your eye. I had the turquoise from long ago, but had to come up with something to go with it. I found some cans of Testor's Competition Orange at Hobbylobby, thought about it for a minute, and voila! Not sure what I'll do if I build another, but sure happy with this one. 1
purepmd Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago You've got a real eye-catching build there. Nice Work. The colors remind me of the Miami Dolphins insignia.
Jay Lankford Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago Thanks so much for your comments. It's not nearly the level of your Freightliner, which is truly outstanding in every aspect. And now that you've mentioned it, those are the Miami colors. I never thought of it that way.
Repstock Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Douglas...before it was McDonnel Douglas (on fuel tank). Nice truck
Jay Lankford Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago You are very good, sir. Left over decals from one of my Honest John 1:48 missle kits. Actually, wound up using a lot decals from that kit on this one. Those were too small for the doors, but looked good on the tanks. Lots of parts from that kit went into the headache rack. I feel I've reentered modeling too late to ever catch up to what builders on this site are doing. Thank you for looking and your comments. 1
