FoMoCo66 Posted Sunday at 07:19 PM Posted Sunday at 07:19 PM On early 60s gasser what did they do for cooling if they didnt run a factory style mechanical fuel pump? I want one for my 40 willys truck that is running olds blown power with MFI. I want to keep the cool aluminum timing chain cover and dont want to cover it up. Also how would I route it to the rad? Anything would be great, cant find anything on the interweb, real or model.
Mark Posted Sunday at 07:30 PM Posted Sunday at 07:30 PM If you are referring to the AMT Willys, that Olds engine has a marine water pump driven off of the camshaft gear. The old Revell Willys coupe has a regular Olds water pump, but I believe that one has the stock timing gear cover. I don't believe anyone was running an electric water pump back then, but you might look into that and find an example or two from back then. You would then have to run hoses from the water pump inlet/outlet on the block (where the stock pump was) to wherever you put the electric pump.

With the right parts and maybe some machine work, the cam can be used to drive a water pump as well, with it or the injection pump stacked out farther in front of the engine. 1
