Stanward VonDiederichs Posted November 22 Author Posted November 22 Looking across to the other side you can see the Gap between the door panel to the body it is the same on the other side. I'm hoping this will work. Where is what it looks like with a hood on the car with interior 3 more parts and I can mark it Done. Folks I had fun doing this kit I liked the details they put in the kit but I didn't like the plastic or the Orange color paint would not stick I washed it with soap and water and used a degreaser and wax remover and Scotch braided the best I could the black would not stick if you notice on the semi-gloss.. 2
Keef Posted November 22 Posted November 22 I built one of these and have about 4 more in my stash. One of them is a WIP right now 3
Stanward VonDiederichs Posted December 5 Author Posted December 5 These are the tools to do this job I have no power tools to use. Starting to shape the windows so the interior to fit and cutting a a pattern to get the interior in. After using the patterns and now ready to fit chassis to the body

That Camel interior looks pretty nice on the finish car the color is that burnt orange?

The way I have the throttle linkage would be correct it's cable driven it makes easy to make the fuel lines I did before I looked it up it's not correct it was a double pumper the heat razor might be correct. I was not too happy with the design of the carburetor they did it was a poorly designed one 😢🤧 I'm still having fun building it. Also time to add the chassis and motor together. Stanword....nice work! Yes, I agree with you that the kit carb is incorrect. Believe it or not, the factory correct Z-28 carb for 1970 1/2 is found in the AMT-Ertl 1970 1/2 Baldwin Motion Camaro kit. And the three barrel in the Z-28 kit....yep, it is the correct carb for the Baldwin Motion kit car. AMT Ertl's product development team switched the carbs in the tooling and this has never been corrected. IIRC I also had the issue with the interior IP conflicting with the windshield. On my second build, I filed the front edge of the instrument panel pretty significantly until the interior seated in the body correctly. The AMT-Ertl 1968 El Camino SS 396 also had this same problem. Best....TIM

I honestly don’t remember if I had any fitment issues with it or not. I did take some advice and assemble the entire front sub frame and slide it along with motor and transmission in as one unit. The paint is Testors Xtreme Flaming Orange over black primer.
