Jonathan Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Greetings all. The ol' Revell Chevy LUV kit has a "custom" V8 engine in it, and to my knowledge, has never been issued with a stock 4 cylinder. What might be some sources for a 4 cylinder for this kit? I know the Revell Pontiac Fiero has a 6 cylinder that might work for a "small" engine, but wondering if some other kit - or the aftermarket - might have something more appropriate. Thanks!

Jonathan Posted November 9 Author Posted November 9 Thank you - I understand that the Chevy LUV was an Isuzu and had an Isuzu engine - what I'm asking is there a scale engine that would be appropriate for the Revell kit? 1

Russell C Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Back in 1988 when I built my Mercedes 500 SEC NASCAR stock car as a lark, part of the assorted jokes in it was an exact replica (almost) of the engine in my 1:1 daily driver at the time, a '73 Chevy LUV. It was made of scrap parts, and if I remember right, what I used as the basis was a 1/35th scale Italieri Opel Blitz 6 cylinder block and transmission, but with quite a bit of extra work to make it resemble the Izuzu 4 cylinder. I had to settle for just decal letters to spell out the name instead of the raised letter on the valve cover. 4
Rbray47 Posted November 9 Posted November 9 I used the block from the MPC Ram 50. I had to scratchbuild the head, valve cover, and intake. A sbc long tube header hooked right up. 5

oldcarfan Posted Sunday at 06:58 PM Posted Sunday at 06:58 PM The MPC Ram 50 is a good option, but you might also look at the MPC 1975 Datsun truck as it has been reissued not long ago and its also coming back out soon. Another option could be the AMT Ford Courier, too. Any of those could work and they could also donate frame, rear end and other parts if needed. 1
