Got the base coat on the body parts and rims:

IMG_20251115_183142_5102.jpg.c8d9256c22ef3b7bd6bf918ae32c30b3.jpg

The reflections make it look a bit uneven but it's not!

Tomorrow it should be cured enough to assemble the cab and wheels.

Moving along well, Jürgen!  I’ve been experimenting with some clear topcoats on an old hood.  Do you use clear finish on any of your truck builds?

Yes I do. Not always though.

If I choose a color that's better to spray in flat then I put a water based clear coat on. Also on decals to preserve them.

When I choose a flat finish I sometimes use a dull clear coat.

Mock-up with the painted body:

IMG_20251116_065916_6662.jpg.1d2527f60bc5f7086cb616d8f437a627.jpg

Everything seems to fit! Not Bad for an AMT kit!

Interior is finished! I kept it very simple since it's a much used working horse.

IMG_20251116_070018_3072.jpg.dd5dd18ea1f1f5d5662b321568f49b78.jpg

Wheels are also finished. Need a bit of rust and aging!

IMG_20251116_070855_5582.jpg.c8bdcc4aaf14fb3543778ffc332f73ae.jpg

The body parts will also get a bit of rust and aging. Especially the chromed parts will show age!

Thanks Steve!

I wanted a color I haven't used yet and I kind of liked the green.

The interior looks a bit like a military truck but that doesn't matter!

A bit of aging and rust and it'll hopefully look authentic.

I painted a Louisville dump truck about this same color last year one day I’ll get to building it maybe. All is looking great

Another mock-up, this time with wheels:

The lift axle works:

IMG_20251116_145049_2892.jpg.00d02e8e784407c361868de20160a54b.jpg

It stays in place just by friction.

IMG_20251116_145109_5312.jpg.84a783bb3d4ca8c68f4a1670d21841b8.jpg

I started to make the rims dirty and rusty. I think they still need some attention.

Got a little bit done yesterday:

IMG_20251117_091532_8562.jpg.ed24adea7d4e029947a2ff4f29c481ec.jpg

Of course the chromed parts still look too new but I'll wait till they mirrors, turning signals and markerlights are also attached so I can apply the dirt and rust in the same intensity.

The cab isn't glued in yet. Still have to do some adjusting to the hood hinges.

The support frame (black) fits the chassis perfectly.

The bottom frame of the scrap bin (white) was printed last night.

These are aluminium tube and rod which will be combined to a hydraulics stamp used to lift the bin.

More to that later.

A bit of progress:

IMG_20251117_132235_6682.jpg.ed75443d50fd1870327f92ae2f29041a.jpg

I decided for one stack and connected the left exhaust with the right side and used a box part to define the distance to the cab.

The dust and rust will increases a bit!

Thanks Steve!

I took that from the ACX I had built a few years ago. Thought it might fit well. And it works too! 🙃

I'd say the truck itself is finished. Now the scrap container will be made.

The adapter frame is also an idea I took from the ACX. Had to modify it though.

Now I have to print the Big stuff. Had to split it up to be able to print it.

The support frame which will be attached to the container is mocked up:

This is really cool. The color just makes this. I am getting some ideas with this build.  I have built a few of these and no where near as good as this. The frame length would make a great tandem 🤔🤔 I’m looking forward to the next update. I really like where you are taking this …..

Thanks Jeff!

Glad you like it and can generate ideas out of this!

I printed the rear doors and the locking mechanism:

IMG_20251118_144735_8282.jpg.9ea573934a7633a760a1522213cc4813.jpg

One is white because I had changed filament. There wasn't enough of the black one left to print the whole container!

This is the rear view of the support frame mocked up on the chassis:

Got it pretty straight I'd say. At least for an AMT kit!

The first half was printed over night. It took 11 1/2 hrs!

IMG_20251118_174007_4472.jpg.da58969ade39356420e6f9c32cb3b49d.jpg

The hydraulic stamp is just mocked up. Still needs some attention concerning fit and length.

This is really coming along nicely, Jürgen!  Will you make a 'load' out of your parts box or use other stuff?

Posted

Thanks Brian.

Yes, I have a lot of body parts in my box due to failed print outs.

Nothing that fits together though. I could make a Peterbilt W900 or an International FLC! 😁
