Simon Fordman strikes again with another rescue - a 1971 Chevelle with a big block ( Mark IV ) .

I wonder if was originally a Heavy Chevy with the 'Turbo Jet 400' ( 402 ) ?

I see 4-wheel drum brakes , and a standard gauge setup ; Cowl Induction hood is ostensibly not stock ( IIRC, the Heavy featured a domed hood which was similar-in-appearance to the C.I. setup ).

This guy never ceases to amaze me !

Oh, and his now-two feline companions.

Though I really AM glad to see those sad old cars live again, I am oh so happy that I won't be the guy doing the bodywork on them.   :D

Bill, won't being burnt weaken and/or warp the sheet metal?

Yup, and make it the absolute devil to straighten and have it stay straight.

Although the sheet steel that car body panels are made of was a product of extreme heat, there were rolling and post-rolling operations that changed its crystalline structure to make it tougher.

HOWEVER...on these older cars it's not as bad as the newer ones with much thinner sheetmetal of a different composition.

COPART Sells many Burnt Out Street Rods. I've seen some real Winners, for sale. All require you to have Many thousands of dollars to even think about saving.

After the Pacific Palisades Fires, I am certain that some of the burnt out wrecks got listed on COPART.
