gtx6970 Posted yesterday at 06:24 PM Posted yesterday at 06:24 PM (edited) Another FINALLY out of the box, finished and in the case after far far too many years in storage Painted this one I think at least 10 years ago with Dupli color rattle can lacquer. It crazed the surface just enough I was not happy and put it away. Until a few months ago. What was supposed to be a simple out of the box / curbside build turned into an upgrade with the modern Lindberg chassis swap. The finish is A LONG WAY from perfect . But dang it if it didnt turn into a cool looking car on the shelf Comments or criticisms are very much appreciated and more than welcome. Thanks for looking in Edited 22 hours ago by gtx6970 3
gtx6970 Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago (edited) They say its a fine line between bravery and stupidity. Well, I decided to see just how fine. And made , and glued in some quarter windows to make it a sedan body. Using a spare body I have, took some tape to the inside of the body and drew out the shape and transferred that to some clear acetate sheet. Painted some small sprue pieces in a color pretty close to the body. I do NOT recommend this to anyone I held my breath the entire time . Good thing I used clear Elmers glue JUST in case I screwed it up I felt like I had a chance to correct it. So, with Fingers crossed dove in. NOW its done and up in my case Edited 16 hours ago by gtx6970 2
Trainwreck Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago (edited) Nice to see this one cross the finish line, Bill. So what's next? Edited 17 hours ago by Trainwreck 1
M W Elky Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago It really captured the early super stock look just right . It makes me wish I would have stashed a few johan 62 dodges away when they were cheap. 1

Who knows All depends on what i find in the pile i guess. I do have a couple started . Just not sure which ones gonna end up back on the bench 1st This is most likely my last finished one for this year Edited 3 hours ago by gtx6970
Ace-Garageguy Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Looks real good. Funny...I used to think that was one of the ugliest cars anybody ever put on wheels. I bought a decent one with some big 2bbl V8 lump for $65 way back in about '1977, traded it even for a clean '67 VW Westphalia camper. Sure would like to have it now... 1
dphipps Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Looks great, I think the side glass and pillar was a good choice. I used to see a 4 door one of these daily driving around here, lavender with lime green outlines. Gross! 1
gtx6970 Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago Thanks gents. They definitely have a face only a mother would love. Its not my favorite body style. But the more I worked on this one. The more I liked it. And it's definitely one of my favorites in the case . Doing that quarter glass and trim was done with the car completely assembled. ( I dont recommended that method btw , tedious is an understatement ) I should have done it while building the car. But sadly, wasn't paying close enough attention to the photos of the actual car I have. All's well that ends well I guess. 1
papajohn97 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Fabulous outcome on this one and that last-minute quarter windows/ column sedan conversion looks pretty much perfect to me. Sure wish I had this build in my door slammer collection to add an early Mopar SS'er.🤞 that we someday see an injection molded kit of these "ugly duckling" '62 Darts/ Fury's (I read the Jo-Han molds are no longer so it would require new tooling by our friends at Moebius/ AMT R2/ Revell). Thank you Bill for posting the WIP as well as this UG result. Cool build!
