bandit1 Posted December 6 Posted December 6 (edited) Another project while I wait to figure out a primer situation on my Sport pickup is this. Sod Buster 81/82 Stepside Chevy P/U. This will be a model of an actual truck that exists somewhere for it was my uncle's old truck I helped with before he sold it and later passed away a year or so later. I will be using the conversion from LCP to build it as a 2 wheel drive C10 in black. The only thing is the stripes and finding the correct wheels in scale. (Sadly I don't have any pictures of the truck) so I'll be going off memory on the build. Edited December 6 by bandit1 2
1972coronet Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Do you have a link to the Luka Cee conversion parts ?
Valvefloat Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Ill be watching this since I had a black 1982 GMC Sierra short-step, 305, auto, 10 bolt. Changed to 468, 12 bolt 10 mpg street truck...ahh memories
bandit1 Posted December 6 Author Posted December 6 Thinned out all the 4*4 stuff and the bucket seats except the chrome tree parts that I won't be using or needing on this build. Need to find a factory bench seat, wheels/tires and figure out the pinstripe situation

bandit1 Posted Sunday at 01:22 AM Author Posted Sunday at 01:22 AM Just noticed... Not only is the tailgate trim for the GMC variant in the kit as a chrome piece but also on the chassis it says "1984 GMC Used under license" on it
bandit1 Posted Sunday at 01:30 AM Author Posted Sunday at 01:30 AM This is where I'm going to call it a Night at. Everything is ready for primer/paint (except resin conversion pieces is soaking to remove release agents for painting later) 2
Mattilacken Posted Sunday at 11:27 PM Posted Sunday at 11:27 PM I like these trucks the best in 2wd version! As well as the blazers shall be 4wd😄 will be following!
Can-Con Posted Monday at 12:30 AM Posted Monday at 12:30 AM Sean, does the 2wd conversion come with the tranny crossmember? They're different then the 4X4 crossmembers as they don't have to mount the transfer case. I know the one on my original annual had a different one but I don't remember if it was a separate part or molded as part of the frame. 2

(I think) Looks like the 2 wheel drive trans member is not there but the 4x4 one can become a 2 wheel drive if you eliminate the red part then the yellow part becomes that 2 wheel drive crossmember (at least what I can tell and probably what I'll do now thanks to you pointing it out?) AJ48085 Posted Wednesday at 12:36 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:36 AM Great progress. I'd love to see Round2 tool up a long box 2wd version of one of these. 2
carnut Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I have one of these pickups and I was thinking of getting rid of it but after seeing what you are doing I will have to keep it and put this on my to build list. nice work.
maxwell48098 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Remember the first square side pickup brought out by MPC was in late 1977 as Kit# 7814 - 1978 Chevrolet Step Side 2 wheel drive pickup which also used a bench seat instead of bucket seats. I've not copied the front suspension parts, but have made resin copies of the bench seat for use in other builds of these kits. Too bad that tooling was lost decades ago. A.J.
