Brizio Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Hello guys! I need held to find out which engine is. Its possible a Ford 427 SOHC? I found it on a 60/70 MPC Jeepster kit... Thanks!
torinobradley Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 That's what it looks like to me. The front and valve covers are very distinctive of the 427SOHC.
bigphoto Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 It is definately a 427 SOHC. Imagine the rock climbing your jeepster could do
Robert81 Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I WANT ONE. What Kit did you say that was in? An MPC Jeepster? I guess it's time to cruise EBay, again. The Injection is a sweet feature.
MikeMc Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 And the '66 galaxie...The SOHC fits the 56 f100 like a glove..... I put the 427 in the f100....and stuffed a Boss 429 in the Galaxie!!
mr moto Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I bought one of the 1/6 scale 427 cammers on Ebay last night! Mostly because it was cheap (about $10 bucks plus shipping) and because it will be real attention getter when the local club sets up displays. Just couldn't pass it up at that price. I AM NOT going to build a 1/6 scale gasser!!
MikeMc Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 That Revell 1/6 scale engine kit is really sweet. I had fun building it. Yep it is sweet.....BUT I liked this one more
Robert81 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Recently reissued AMT kits with a 427 SOHC & Hilborn FI like in that pic are far easier to come by than that old MPC Jeepster. Hope this helps! That helps a lot, thank you. I wish I knew this a few weeks ago, as I cobbled together a dual 4 barrel S.O.H.C. 427, using the long block from the AMT 33 Willys with the accessory drive, water pump, distributor, intake and carburetors from the Revell Parts Pack 427.
Chuck Most Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Why would a Jeep kit come with a 427 Sock motor? Or was it just in the box when you found it?
Chuck Most Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 That was a custom option in the kit back in the day IIRC. A Sock motor in a Jeepster? Man, those MPC dudes must've been heavy into the hallucinogens! Still, the idea of a Jeepster pushed with a 427 Cammer makes me giddy as a schoolgirl... if I had, say, sixty grand or so to blow, I'd do it in 1:1 scale! I have the Mount'n Goat reissue, and I have to say the Buick 225 odd-fire six is very nice (I've used it in a T-Bucket build), and it still includes the CJ-style Jeepster grille (with the turn signals up over the fenders), but not the appropriate fenders or hood. Sadly, the snowplow is no longer part of the deal, but it's available in resin from Repicas and Miniatures Company of Maryland. That was the first resin part I ever puchased. I'd buy ten more of the Mount'n Goat reissues, if I could find 'em!
