I listen to all those types of music. They are all great. Rockibilly inspires me to build pick em up trucks, and country songs inspire me to build big rigs. CONVOY! B)

I just put my playlist on random. Mostly rock, classick rock, metal, and some decent rap artists.

But i usually just end up zoning out and talking to myself.

Well seeing as I've been a metal head since `77, i should listen to it while building, but i usually end up bouncing of the walls to much. ;) So I generally have the radio on or listen to some Blues, except for when the kids have bad TV programs on. :)

you guys would probably fall on the floor laughing at some of the music i listen to while modeling

I'll listen all the way from what ya'll call "emo"(bands like hawthorne heights, from first to last, etc...) to screamo(bring me the horizon, circle takes the square, eyes set to kill, job for a cowboy, teh devil wears prada, just to name a few) to old school hip hop9mostly 90's stuff) then whatever comes on when i hit shuffle on my ipod :o

I dont usually listen to music when im building my models. Some of you might find this weird, but i have a police scanner that i listen to while building my models. Right now i am in the middle of building a 69 boss mustang and a 69 dodge superbird. These just happen to so far be the best builds i've ever had, so maybe i stumbled on to something?! lol

For me, some songs actually inspire some builds. Metalica's "Devil's Dance" made me think of a pro-mod '70 429 Boss with a black top and dark gray sides, blacked out trim and black 19" bbs wheels. The name of the car, of course, is Devil's Dance...

I usually toss a few cd's into the changer and let 'em cycle. They can be almost anything but I usually stick to rock, metal and smooth jazz.

That, or I'll put the tv on science or sci-fi...

I also don't listen to music when I'm building although I will put on a favorite movie and listen to that in the background.

Funny you mentioned this. I'll work on a kit I haven't touched in 20+ years and will remember the exact TV show that was on the last time I was working on it...

Isn't this the same as Playlist thread? Anyway, music really does not inspire me to build, just visions in my head of how I'd like a real car to be if I owned one, or just my dream cars such as the KS models I build. I wouldn't say MUSIC inspires me as much as movies would. Movies such as Cannonball Run, Condorman, Gone in 60 Seconds, Fast and Furious, et'c, any car-based movies will inspire me. Music? No.

Great topic, Kevin.

I've found, like you, it helps me to put on

the music to the type/era of car I'm

working on.

To Rob, movies don't work. They may

INSPIRE me, but even if I've seen them

1000 times, I end up watching them

1001 times! :(

When Dad is out of town, and I have the house to my selfe, I like to turn on my Itunes and pump up the volume very LOUD! That get's me in the mood to start building something. Music can vary a lot, so it's just the music itselfe that get's me pumped. Still, no particular music inspires me. Just that good feeling to start doing something creative!

Where I live, out in Black Forest, I have five acres to my selfe with no neighbors to disturb, so it's nice to be in an environment where I can play it loud! :D

i agree, movies and dreams is what inspires to build,

BUT!!!!!!!! music does somewhat inspire or start an awsome project! (well, it geats me into the groove!) the only way i can build a low-rider properly is if i listen to alot of eminem, ludacris, the game, chamillionaire, djayz, ice cube, snoop dogg, etc........ alot of rap!

I've got a few songs that inspired some builds.

WARNING: some are a bit odd.

I built a Model A rat roadster that I originally thought of while listening to "The Mob Rules" by Sabbath.

Bob Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay" (the best bad song ever) has inspired at least two beater builds.

I built a Jeep Honcho who's soundtrack during the build was nothing but AC-DC vinyl LPs (I think that led to it's backyard hillbilly beater pickup vibe.)

And I was listening to a lot of Type O Negative when I built my Galaxie/Jimmy Flintstone '46 Chevy Hearse. I was also listening to TON when I got the idea to buy a Vampire Van kit- which I haven't gotten to yet.

And I've usually got Slayer on when I'm doing an AWB funny car- not sure how that equates, but it seems to help!

Cars inspire me to build models of what I like about them, music only blocks out the noise in the rest of the house. If I heard country (yuck) you won't see me building a horse.
