About 10 minutes work over two evenings resulted in this slightly used look on my spare phone cover.

Sophisticated Finishes iron was painted on one night.

I let the cover soak in rust solution for 24 hours in a baggy to get the full rust effect.

I still need to protect the finish with a dead flat clear to keep the rust from rubbing off.

This is a much better result than I had painting my other cover in primer.

I may go back and add flames or pinstripes to that one.

I am very happy with my basic black Ipod and Iphone. I had the original 60GB Ipod Video Classic that had that shiny gloss-black acrylic finish. But that showed up a lot of finger prints and scratches very easily. My new Ipod, the 160 GB Video Classic has that new flat-black finish and month's later it still look's brand spanking new. Upon delivery I immediately covered the screen with those handy clear protectors and at same time as purchase, I had ordered a black silicone case from Ifrogz.com. I ordered a matching set for both Ipod and Iphone and both are still like new condition.

I wouldn't bother painting either one at all.

eh, my ipod is all scratched up from skating, and bmx, and just basic use. I've had it since the video came out(the one i have) and i've never gone a day without it in my pocket  and my phone when i got it the paint had orange peel on the back so i imediatley snaded that down to the plastic and repainted it, now im trying ot redoe the whole pnohe. I guess i just like having custom stuff :P:lol:

James, my freind,AND forum brother, Methinks you got TOOO much time on your hands! I mean, it IS your phone, an you CAN do as you dam well please with it, but WHY? Wouldn't it made a lot more sense to apply that technic to a model?

Don't get me wrong, it came out like it's all rusted up, but again,WHY? If you wanna start a "Rusted Phone" trend your sure right on the money! Personally I think FLAMES woulda looked KILLER! Then you coulda had a REAL LIVE Hot Line!!!:lol::P
