Nick Winter Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 Ok well I detailed the front and rear bumpers aswell as the front grill and rear tail pan. I was able to make a trip to the LHS so the trim will be done tonight and maybe the bumble bee stripes. Enjoy, Nick Almost forgot those license plates aren't going to be on for long it'll have arizona plates cmy sprb
Nick Winter Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 Well I finished the chrome using some testors silver I picked up today, I'm happy with the results, wish My LHS had some BMF in stock but oh well. Also finished under the hood.

ewaskew Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 (edited) This is the start of the frame work on my 69 Chevelle http://photobucket.com/earl_2008?albumview=slideshow More of this and my other builds on my photobucket Edited August 9, 2009 by ewaskew
Nick Winter Posted August 9, 2009 Author Posted August 9, 2009 the A12 Bee's only came with the black steel wheels, nothing else was available. the 5-spoke "road" wheels were available on all other Super Bee's. Police or "cop" wheels of the time were no different in appearance than the A12 package black steel wheels but wore the dog dish style caps which i believe in '69 had the red ring in the centers. the "cop" wheels in the Revell/Monogram '70 Roadrunner kit are wrong for a '70 and are actually from the mid to late 70's. if you want to do an accurate A12 6-pack Super Bee for the summer of '69 i'd go with the black steel wheels and chrome lug nuts or a set of Cragar S/S mags Dave Ok thats just what I found after some reaserch. This is the start of the frame work on my 69 Chevelle http://photobucket.com/earl_2008?albumview=slideshow More of this and my other builds on my photobucket ok cool.

I plan on doing some weathering to make it look like it's been driven for a year. I would also like to thank Dukefan69 for allowing me to enter this car into this build. Thanks, 'cuz.

spkgibson Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Looking great so far,now not to nit pick,as I see alot of builders make the same mistake, the front sub frames on mopar are primer with body color overspay just the very outsides of the front and rear and sides, the rest is gray primer!as for fords they are the red oxide primer, the mopars have the body color engine compartment, most mopars have been unibodys since 1960,but fords usualy have black engine compartments depending on the year of the car,and if the car is a full frame or unibody, like the mustangs ,torinos, exctra I reserch the real cars on here ,or in magazines, but on mopars,NO black subframes or frame sides, they are body color!hope this helps next time for you, love the color on the BEE!
MikeMc Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Dude.....1969?????????? Oh yeah how about one of those Camaros???? Y'now over at Motion Performance...BIG block style...... so can I play?

Assuming you want a factory look....I build customs...so that means NO OVERSPRAY anywhere!!! also if you lived in the 70's Ziebart and Rusty Jones were household names....satin black bottoms rule!!!

Yeah that's handy to know, thanks for sharing that. Yeah the color really flows nicely on this Bee. It's my favorite car so far that I've built. Dude.....1969?????????? Oh yeah how about one of those Camaros???? Y'now over at Motion Performance...BIG block style...... so can I play? You wanna play too. Sure.
Nick Winter Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 very true, well here in Michigan all you see is rust!lol,I have seen some many nice muscle cars that looked great from 10 feet away, till you look at them upclose and see all the bubbles of rust or bondo falling off!or they pop open the trunk and the metal looks like swiss cheese I've seen that on cars up here, I help build derby cars with my uncle, for my cousin to run, and quite a few times after we hauled it back and started taking parts off, like the carpet in side and find flinstones style rust holes in the floor boards. found the same thing when i was looking for my car i looked at a beautiful duster with a very fair price and crawled under and the floor pans, and trunk floor were rusted all to hell. too bad it was a 74 duster with a 340 and 727 automatic tranny.
MikeMc Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 OK when you drop a 427 into a light car your gonna need some Bigs....as in brakes and rubber. A Baldwin Motion '69 Camaro 4 speed low altitude flyer...Throw some HOK pearls on with some extra flake...just to make it POP! Of course a set of Big n Little Pegasis T's with disks will keep it stuck to the ground.
