Get well and take it easy with the Meds. A lot of Wrapping for a finger, Missed the finger. I guess that make you all even. CB Posted July 25, 2009 Author Posted July 25, 2009 Yinz guys are great! Thanks fer heppin' me out wit my battles with the SKWIRLY dude. Never dreamed he would be this nasty! Little FYI: that "x-ray" aint the official one that doc showed me & Deb after he did the operating, but it's near as I can remembers just wakin' up & all , so I Googley-gooed a pic of a hand xray and 'doctored' it up to show yinz all. Took a pic of one of SKWIRLY's bolts & did some computer work on it and pasted them into the appropriate place--and yeah, that black line is where I done broked it! Guess I was wondering myself if'n he used self tapping screws or drilled holes firstly--must be why I puked in Debbie's car on the way home(wonder if that's why she aint called me?) Anyhows, doc said I really splattered the cartlidge , even getting some in the marrow of the bone, but he said he got all the pieces back where they be belonging and them screws are gonna be in there for 2 weeks at least to help keep everything together while it heals. I sees him in 2 weeks-- I'll hafta ask him if'n this is where he got them screws If'n they're the same ones, I's already got a wrench fer crankin' them out---NOT! Thanks again
Steven Zimmerman Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 When I was 18,I had a car accident and broke my left Femur and lost a lot of my left foot; to fix the Femur, they drilled a hole the length of the bone and drove in a pina half inch in dia. and 19 inches long.......Then a year later, they went back in and removed it. Funny thing,5 weeks in the hospital, enough pain killing drugs to kill an elephant,3 major operations;thhe total bill was 2200 bucks...........what would that cost today? (Don't EVEN wanna know what Gregg's bills were).........'Z' BTW,when I woke up from the second operation there was an envelope laying on my chest- it was my DRAFT NOTICE.............

Glad to hear you can take this with your usual good humor! I'm sure everyone here is wishing you a rapid and complete recovery! Damaged digits are serious stuff when you're a modeler... B.

Whoa Steve! That's intense! and a lot of metal! Really hope you don't have too much problem nowadays after all that. Just got a statement from my insurance providers-(spent 33 years working in a steel mill and am blessed with good benefits)--anyhow, the statement is for my initial visit to the ER to confirm pinky was broken-- so far the total is $1670--$45.06 of which was for 3 Vicodin tablets. Not sure how much for the 3 hours of TV that I watched while waiting to be x-rayed. I am very aware that things could've been way, way worse-- coud've been my right hand for starters...and I coud've looked like Felipe. It is getting better, very slowly but surely. May try to do a bit of model work next couple days. Really appreciate all the well wishies--Thanks!

He was hit in the head by what looks like a coil spring that came off Rubens Brawn GP during qualifying earlier today, knocked out and went straight off at corner 4.
Custom Hearse Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I know how ya feel Cap'n.... When I was 9, I broke and dislocated my right hip, and then walked around on it for 5 and a half weeks, not knowing I'd done it.... To put it back together, they had used self tapping screws and a drill. I spent a year in the hospital, and six months on crutches. At least some fun was gained out of it.... Now I can predict the weather, and set off the alarms at airports! Get well soon, and just laugh it off.... I don't think skwirly meant any real harm.... He was just lonely!!!!
