Guest Gramps-xrds Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 INSANE Tell me about it. Could you imagine having all those models. I'd go nuts
Chillyb1 Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 That really is pretty astonishing. There isn't much that interests me, but the sheer abundance is remarkable. And looks like there is a logic to the collection so it isn't just a random amassing of stuff. Is it worth $150,000? I mean that question seriously because I cannot personally attempt to evaluate the collection and assign a dollar value.

Custom Hearse Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I looked through it, and I saw only 10-15 kits I wouldn't mind having, but that was about it. I couldn't imagine owning that many kits and collectible cars.
Zoom Zoom Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I'd be surprised if bidding goes beyond half of the BIN price, and won't be surprised if it doesn't get to that point. Expecting anything even close to "retail" in this economy isn't going to happen. Many "Mint" cars resell for a fraction of their original price. If they want more $$ they'll need to sell it in smaller lots over time.
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Is the collection worth $150k? Probably not. Would I buy it if I won the lottery? Heck yeah!!!
vizio93 Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 yeah it's overpriced. i wouldn't mind havin' some of them though.
Foxer Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 2,173 cars. Probably 2 years of building! Oh wait... that was my dream... I haven't finished one this year yet... guess I'll pass.
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I think I'll Buy Lottery ticket tonight. Already got my tickets, just prayin the numbers are right . WV lotto is 102 mil. Cash payout is 51 mil and after taxes I'd prob get 26 mil. I think I could afford that collection. But then I'd have to get rid of a lot of the diecasts and some newer stuff, but oh what fun I could have doin it
FujimiLover Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I knew I forgot to buy something today! I bet if I do, nobody will win it and it'll go higher. If I don't buy it, somebody local will win it. It almost always happens when it get's to be 100 mil. I wouldn't buy that particular collection as I don't care for most of the cars he has, but I would certainly start my own collection! Well, first I'd have to have a house that would fit the collection! LOL! My bedroom at home doesn't work for anything more than 200 cars of various scales.
Zoom Zoom Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Mega Millions rolled over last night with no winner, but don't cry over it. The auction for the model collection only received an offer of 23.4% of the asking price. So much for the windfall someone expected over the collection. Caveat Emptor! Even winning stupid $$ in the lottery would make it crazy to pay 4X what something is really worth. Doesn't matter if it's model cars, baseball cards, a real car, a house, or a blender. The Big Collection That Didn't Sell
Harry P. Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 I wonder how long it took just to set up and shoot all those photos???!!!
93Z34 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 There are some kits there I wouldn't mind having, but I also see where he has alot of duplicate kits too. I'm not into the built-ups he has though. I just can't see that collection going for that kind of money and am even surprised at the final bidding being as high as it is.
