MikeC Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I like it. I just went thru the Fotki album and wow!!!! Very nice work you did there.
Bernard Kron Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 (edited) It's funny how you can tell great modeling from the moment you see the car. And this is great, great modeling. Your pictures and description in the post sort of set us up for it but the Fotki series really tells the story. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. It's really an inspiration... Billy Kingsley Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Very cool. You did a great job on the build and few models of race cars actually get to be ON the car they are a model of. You should be proud of that one!
Slim Louis Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Arguably the best build Ihave ever seen! Also one of my most favorite drivers and race cars! Awesome job!
promodwillys41 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 frank great looking car and they both look great together
jphil Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 hi i'm new to the forum and live in the north and huge evens fan. that is a great build.
bsoder Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Wow James must of spent some time going through posts!! glad ya did though..I haven't seen this before, what a great looking build!
Slickpaint Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 (edited) Thank you very much on the comments, I'm glad you guys like it, it's one of my favorite builds...Richie Evans was a great driver and won lots of races & championships in the modified series. Seeing the Camaro in the Talladega museum, it really made me want to build it regardless of the amount of bodywork needed to replcate it. I took alot of detail pic's of the car inside and out, I made the trip back exactly a year later with the finished model and it was cool to photograph the two together, best day ever!!.......Frank Edited January 11, 2010 by Slickpaint
MarkJ Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Here is a replica I built of the late Richie Evans Camaro which sits in the Talladega Speedway Museum. I got to see the car in person and took some detail pic's of it so I can build it. There is no kit with fenders like this, so I used an old MPC Camaro kit as a starting point. The body was modified all over to replicate it as close as possible. I made the wheels in resin myself and the decals were custom made using pic's of the car. The stripes and numbers are painted on with an airbrush, stencils and fine line tape. After I was done with it I went back to the museum and photographed the model with the real car. I have the entire buildup of this car with all the modifications in my Fotki album if you would like to see more....Thanks for looking.................Frank <a href="http://public.fotki.com/frankencamaro85/richie-evans-78-cam/museum238.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://images16.fotki.com/v301/photos/1/1307707/6366025/museum238-vi.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a><a href="http://www.fotki.com" target="_blank">Hosted on Fotki</a> <a href="http://public.fotki.com/frankencamaro85/richie-evans-78-cam/richieevans0120.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://images52.fotki.com/v1552/photos/1/1307707/6366025/RichieEvans_0120-vi.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a><a href="http://www.fotki.com" target="_blank">Hosted on Fotki</a> <a href="http://public.fotki.com/frankencamaro85/richie-evans-78-cam/museum235.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://images49.fotki.com/v1465/photos/1/1307707/6366025/museum235-vi.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a><a href="http://www.fotki.com" target="_blank">Hosted on Fotki</a> The rest are here <a href="http://public.fotki.com/frankencamaro85/richie-evans-78-cam/" target="_blank">http://public.fotki.com/frankencamaro85/richie-evans-78-cam/</a> Looks like the real car.
