chrismooney Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Ok Tell everyone your best use for these NEW towels...... Micro Fiber Towels you seen them on TV in the store..... My best use. After the paint is dry. I use Maguire’s Scratch-X and a micro fiber towel to buff out/polish my paint.... removes orange peal and give a nice gloss finish........ Also you bring your model to the show... Gregg would like to take a Photo of it... use the towel to get all you finger prints and dust off. NEXT!
envious8420 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 actually microfiber is too course, it leaves behind micro scratches. best bet is soft flannel or soft cotton for final polishing.

cruz Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) My personal favorite is from a suggestion by my good friend Bill Geary. He told me to go out to Pep Boys and buy some good quality chamois, haven't seen a better system to polish and wax than this one. I like to use the Maguiar's cleaner wax after using my polishing cloths. Just put a small dab on your finger, rub it in a circular motion and take it off with the chamois. Try this and you will never go back to flannel or anything else, at least in my humble opinion..... I use to have pretty good results before using the flannels but couldn't get away from the minor scratches left behind. Edited August 13, 2009 by marcos cruz
E St. Kruiser50 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Here's a nice little polishing cloth I get from Tap Plastics here in Portland for $2.00 each. TAP PLASTICS is a West Coast chain. IT'S MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR POLISHING PLASTICS, WHICH PAINT IS, WITH POLISHES AND WAX, LIKE WHAT'S SHOWN IN THE PIC WITH IT. Measures about 14" X 17", is re-washable, and is extremely effective. Each side has a different texture and work very well, and worth the low price. It's all I use!
Pete J. Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Ok, here is a good use for the microfiber towels. If you put one in the bottom of the box that you carry your model in, it won't slide around. I know is sound dumb, but the microfiber towels seem to grip most surfaces and a model can sit on one and it just won't move in normal transportation. It is really kind of cool.
