Looks most excellent - especially the color. As I look at your pics it appears to be a tangerine flavor. The top stripe looks like cobwebbing. How did you do that? Used to be straight lacquer with low pressure at the gun.

Oh, yeah! the paint job is COOL! LOVE the webbing! That Driveshaft ain't lookin too shabby either! GREAT build an paint!!!

Two of my favorite things....a Chevy Nova and orange paint!!! Looks great, just like it rolled off the strip in the '70's!

Thanks for the comments. The webbing affect is a trick a freind tought me. We used this spray stuff he got that is for doing lamp shade decorating with, then we laid the depont clear over it. The problem is it made air bubbles in the clear that was a pain to get out. I don't know how they used to do it but I bet it was easier.

Cob webbing used to done, like i said with straight lacquer and low pressure. Some big name customizer accidently forgot to thin, went to shoot, and this stringy stuff came out. The process, after prep and masking was to spray clear that was greatly retarded to keep from drying. In another spray gun that was redy to go with the straight lacquer, you just shot it out. Different air pressures gave different sprays so you had to adjust before the final. After drying you laid down a couple good coats of clear. Let dry and start block sanding. And then more clear and more sanding until the surface was flat.

If I can ever find them, I'll post my old Capri and Buick Skylark that we cob webbed.

O.K. the process sounds the same I laid down the gold strips and then shot the webbing stuff then cleared. Waited a few days sanded to smooth it out then shot more clear which was when the bubbles started. Sanded again shot more clear more bubbles, sanded again added fisheye remover to clear shot again and bubbles came back, spent a hour and a half with tooth pick pushing clear into bubbles, shot another coat of clear. Polished car. It all started when I nicked the paint on the hood and my buddy said we can just cover it "it won't be hard". I got to admitt though I really like it now that it is done. The other phase he like is "custom painting is a ###### shoot you never know what to expect".
