FordRodnKustom Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Hi all, I've been on a vintage kit/box art building and parts collecting kick lately. Here are my latest projects, just finished within the last month. For the AMT '32 I tried to stay close to the box image but I left off the mufflers cause they didn't fit right and I like the drag pipe look. This one is a re creation of the Monogram Little T. I gathered the correct back dated parts from two unrestorable auction glue bomb built ups. The recent Good Guys issue Ford T roadster was used for the rest. Repro decals are by Greg Holland. I liked the painted steelie and baby moon look of the Big T better so that's how I went. Hope you all enjoy seeing these as much as I did building them !
70elcamino Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Both look super, you did a great job. Russell
randx0 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 great job!I love those old illustrations,I wish we could get those parts from the lil t.
RodBurNeR Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 You know I love them both, so dang cool and I can't explain it.....but vintage builds/box "art" brought to life....just can't get enough of it! Excellent work on both, can't wait to see you do more!
voljeepx Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 They both look great, if the internet was arond back then, these are the cars you would be seeing! Good job on both.
carrucha Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Good job recreating the box art. You have inspired me to try it also. carrucha
jbwelda Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 ive wanted to build that box art hot rod too and yours is very inspiring. i really like how your carb intakes came out. i notice though the ride height, actually looks like the body height on the frame, is a lot higher than the box art indicates. how easy do you think it would be to channel the body over the frame pretty radically? looks killer; i would hope mine came out half as nice. that little t is sweet too, do you have a big t to display it next to?
Slim Louis Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Sweet and simple, nice paint, I like them both!
FordRodnKustom Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 Thanks all for the good words on these builds! I'm Glad these are an inspiration to some. I was inspired a while ago ago by Bob Black's box art '32 Vicky build. To me this style of building is a way of preserving a bit of modeling history and perhaps reliving some of my childhood. It's good to know that others enjoy it too! Stay tuned, there will be more.....

Thanls JB, I'm sure it could be done with a lot of slicing and dicing for sure but it won't be easy. It took quit a bit of that to get the body as low as it is now! Yes I do have a Big T kit (latest reissue) but I haven't built it yet.
roadhawg Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I was inspired a while ago ago by Bob Black's box art '32 Vicky build....... And so was I. This adds fuel to the fire. Absolutley beautiful! I'm going to dig out the oldest unbuilt kit I have and build my own box art model......and BOTH of you are to blame.
