mr moto Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Too bad about the job situation! I've been there once too often myself but it always seems to work out for the good somehow. Anyway, it hasn't stopped your creativity from flowing. That's a great looking build already and just totally original. That pickup bed is SO COOL!! Keep it comin'!
Jantrix Posted September 24, 2009 Author Posted September 24, 2009 What junkyard you getting your parts from Rob? Them's some fine lookin' seats ya got there Hope all's goin' well with the moving, etc The move is in a stall due to lack of funds. I'll probably move to my folks house until I get a couple of paychecks + severance under our belts and then move. As for the nice parts, I figured the 426 would have set you off before the seats. I wanted this to look random, very rad rod without the junky, rusty, unsafe at any speed feel that seems to be so popular these days with rat rods. So if I was gonna build one, I'd find the best parts I could on a budget, but still make it safe and look good.
Jantrix Posted September 28, 2009 Author Posted September 28, 2009 Quick update. Engines done. I think it is sufficiently ratty, yes? The headers were a whole lot of fun to do. They are a pro-mod header backwards. The bend and straight section are heavy gauge copper wire. A small aluminum exhaust tip finishes it off. I painted the heat wrap a color that looks right, and works with the colors of the build. Due to the copper, the headers are very heavy so I pinned the header flanges to the block. I'm near done mechanically so I'm working on the rear end now. I've decided to add a luggage rack and perhaps a package trunk like those that used to come on the back of cars with rumble seats. Something like this, but it will be on top of the rear end and not so huge. More soon.
george 53 Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 SO THAT'S wat them headers were for!!! Rob, this thiings lookin better an better each time we see it(Duhhh, I guess THAT'S the point,Eh?) the whole thing is commin together so well. Hope all goes well with the move, so we can see that rascal all ready ta roll!!! GREAT BUILD!!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 WOWOWOW!!!! This thing is looking wild and wicked. Great work on the exhaust . . . it's all coming together nicely. You are obviously enjoying building the heck out of this one!!!
