voljeepx
Walt, this looks great! I love old Pontiacs, it's a shame the brand is gone now. Paint and details are awesome! Just wondering, why will this be your only black paint job?

Harry P.
I agree, the paint looks fantastic. The weird angle of the front bumper, though...
walt francis
Well thanks guys I am glad you like it and for not painting black again is what you see is alot of time wetsanding and polishing, Black just shows every little thing in the paint so it has to be perfect, and for the front bumper you put the grill and bumper together before you put it to the car and you don't see that it sets it at an angle but I was told that they all do it and it can be corrected by sanding the nose where the bumper hits the grill nose. This is before sanding and polishing their is orange peel all down the sides after
62SS
Awesome job Walt. That black paint looks flawless. Wish I could paint like that. Fantastic build.
BigGary
If you've ever attempted a black paint job you won't wonder why it is one black paint job. For all the reasons mentioned, black is the most difficult to do. Just ask any 1:1 car painter and they'll tell you. Black and most other very dark colors show every defect. I painted a 1/32 car black. I thought it was clean and free of defects. Boy was I wrong! After 2 attempts and 3 trips in the purple pool, its now blue metallic. dimaxion
I gotta agree with the troops Walt, It DID come out beautiful!!!! Just a FINE example of it's marque. But then again, it IS a Pontiac, Back when bein a Pontiac MEANT sumpthin!!!! GREAT BUILD Walt!!!! I agree , Black is hard to do . But , any painter 1:1 will tell you any tiny flaw in the areas covered in Black Paint will be a Major Flaw . Resulting in just jumping out at you when finished . Nice Pontiac . Don't let the work stop you . Look at the finished project . Very rewarding is my opinion . BTW , white covers flaws and hides them . Thanx.. crispy
Great work Walt! You are correct about black paint as was mentioned by everyone else. I like that challenge myself. Getting it flawless is key and of course extra time and effort to get it that way are paramount. The car looks great. Pontiac really had something there with that car. Yours is awesome and a great tribute to a cultural marque. Chris
