jbwelda Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 hi folks im new here. let me show you something im working on...sorry for the underwhelming quality of the photos... body is art anderson (i understand he posts here) t bucket with turtledeck, track nose all moulded as one. chassis essentially scratchbuilt, with metal axle front end and etzel speed classics offy motor. is currently beyond this stage; actual radiator is in and brake lines etc plumbed. heres a couple other photos: similar view but from rear: detail of front end with radiator and fuel tank in place : ive been working on this on and off for a couple years; now ive got it back out and hopefully will be ready for nnl west 07! the body will have to be trimmed and finished and im planning on shrouding all slots for exhaust system etc for the lake car look. im ready to actually mount the motor and the chassis is already up on its rear wheels so i will post some more photos as things progress. i often get sidetracked building or restoring slot cars so i put a couple photos over there too. cool forum, im glad i made it here!
Scale-Master Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Very nice attention to detail and overall workmanship. Definitely one to watch, keep us posted...
Biscuitbuilder Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 JaBill, Geez, a 274cid Offy in a '27 T? Mebbe you better tow that one a little bit farther, to Bonneville--lots more room to open 'er up! When can we get to hear that Offy air-pumper rumble and growl?????? Art Anderson a/k/a Biscuitbuilder
Jairus Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Holy Cow, the quality rating of this board just went up a couple of notches! I am very excited to see further updates on this build. Welcome aboard jbwelda!
jbwelda Posted March 30, 2006 Author Posted March 30, 2006 hey thanks for the compliments folks; coming from your calibre of builders it really means a lot. inspires me to keep on keeping on as it were. i will post more photos as i take them, maybe over the weekend. again very nice forum and im glad i found it and took the time to register!
Gregg Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 What a T! Post more soon, and as Larry The Cable Guy says: Get er done!
bigphoto Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I can see where my skills need to be improved upon. The T is a work of art ( well partially Art LOL).
camaroman Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Very Nice indeed. I love that moon tank and radtr!
jbwelda Posted April 3, 2006 Author Posted April 3, 2006 hey thanks again! to tell the truth, it looks better in pictures than in real life. the radiator came with a white metal kit from (i think...but not positive about this) southeast finecast of a morgan/rover V8. the header (which you cannot see in these pics) also came from the same kit. brit car followers will know that was formerly a buick aluminum V8 before rover bought up the tooling etc. i believe it was also used in the ltd edition MGBGT V8. anyway got distracted by a quick custom build of a green hornet t this weekend for my girlfriend; will get back to this one soon. again, thanks for the compliments!
jbwelda Posted April 17, 2006 Author Posted April 17, 2006 an update, got a chance to do a little work and heres some updated photos. not shown here is firewall template i completed but havent actually fitted as yet. here is the motor in the frame; the front wheels are not attached and the rears were until the axle broke away during motor fitting, i will be re-engineering that in the next day or so! heres a shot of the motor in the frame from the right rear; check out the wicked exhaust header from a Morgan/Buick V8: and one from the right front. note that there are a lot of loose ends at this poiint, fuel lines are askew, brake lines a bit loose still. all that needs the tighten up after i re-fix the axle with pins and epoxy. next its on to fitting the body around the motor and frame...
jbwelda Posted April 17, 2006 Author Posted April 17, 2006 and heres a couple of pics from the other day, before mounting the motor, but with an austin resin body im thinking about using as an alternative to the T bucket . im not sure why the top photo is so much larger than the bottom; they were supposed to be sized the same 640 X 480
SoCalMark Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Thanks for the update pix. That baby is looking slick.
weasel Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 nahhhh... use the '27 body, 'flows' better.... i've been trying to find that body for a while now.... everybody that made them went kaput!!!
MonoPed Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Don't know how I missed this when first posted, this is just too cool... That Offy four-popper is awesome!
Gregg Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Can't wait to see this one on a contest table somewhere!!!
S10man Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Very nice work indeed. My next project is an old Indy Roadster, so your Offy engine details will come in handy!
jbwelda Posted April 18, 2006 Author Posted April 18, 2006 >Can't wait to see this one on a contest table somewhere!!! only real "contests" i go to are NNL West which as you know isnt a contest. then maybe the SF rod and custom show at cow palace sometime in jan or feb, or the autorama in sacramento. i might even have it done in time for one of those! by the way the club i belong to here in sacramento, city styles, puts on a "modelrama" contest in september but im usually in hawaii when that one rolls around. i keep telling the main man that we ought to be in the club registry in model cars mag but somehow we dont get it together, too busy building probably! anyway thanks for all the good words folks, it keeps me going on this one!
MikeBoyle Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 That is one sweet little roadster. Mabey its a good thing (for everyone else) that you don't enter many contests, that thing has winner written all over it!
jbwelda Posted May 28, 2006 Author Posted May 28, 2006 heres an updated photo, this time of brake and fuel lines in place, tube driveshaft, cheater slick detail... next up, fitting the body to the chassis and cleaning it up for paint.
FASTBACK340 Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Go with the original body Jah.. That's gonna be incredible when done. What do you have in mind for paint?
