caine440 Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 I like it! Not something you see everyday, well Done.
george 53 Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Gerald, I would think ThunderBolt would be a misnomer. With a ride THAT big, I think "Rolling Thunder" would fit it better! Great build, lets see some more!
oldscool Posted September 26, 2009 Author Posted September 26, 2009 Thanks for the compliments. Its straight OOB old AMT kit with front wheels from Revell 49 Merc. I built drag cars almost exclusively when I was a teen and this is the first drag car ive built since returning to the hobby. Wont be the last one.
James Flowers Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 You did a nice job on that kit. I always liked that kit.
oldscool Posted September 26, 2009 Author Posted September 26, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the replys everyone and here is one more pic. Just looking at this pic makes me hear the engine wailing. The molds for this kit are still very crisp and clean. It needs some decals on it and I like your suggestion George. Rolling Thunder would be a great name for it. BigGary Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 You're not really too far from reality. In '63 & '64 Ford built Galaxies with the Thunderbolt engine combo, teardrop hood, etc. Dropping the FE 427 into the Fairlane was an effort to make Ford more competitive against the 427 BB Chevies and Dodges/Plymouths with the Stage 3 426 wedge or Hemi.
