curt raitz Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Just couldn't resist building a modern F1 racecar with all of the winglets and stuff stuck on these puppies... Picked up a set of aftermarket "tabacco decals" and the photo-etched goodies from Acu-Stion. primary reason for the photo-etch was because I could not figure out the tire decals Fujimi puts in this kit...could not get them to work pictured is the result of using the Bridgestone tire masks, Tamiya XF2 and an airbrush: Primed the red parts with Tamiyas pink, rumor has it Ferrari uses pink primer... Tamiya TS-49 Bright Red and decals: Assembled chassis, front and rear wing assemblies. Sorry, but i hate carbon fiber decals, so I use Tamiya's TS-40 Metallic Black instead. In 1/20th scale the carbon fiber probably is visible, but I believe in 1/24th scale it would not be visible, that's my excuse and I'm stickin with it : Just a word of caution...both wing assemblies are a "%#*(&^", not for the "fient of heart' other than the wings this model was fun to build, so far... next step is gettin the body to fit onto the chassis and I think it's gonna be a tight fit next update on this build will be "Under Glass" hopefully. thanx for lookin'
Dragline Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Looks outstanding Curt. I HAVE to build an F1 car someday. Bob F
ismaelg Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Nice! I'll be following this one closely. You are doing a great job as usual.
elan Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Very nice work! I'll have to start one of my F-1 kits and add it to my unfinished pile.
chris coller Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Very nice work. Are these cars relatively easy to build?
Raul_Perez Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Looking good, Curt!! That pink primer is really cute... I may have to try it on my next red paint job... Later,
crispy Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Great work Curt, as usual. Is the assembly pretty easy? I know that the instructions can be hard to read with this kit as there are so many small parts and locations. I look forward to your completion on this one. Chris
vizio93 Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 nice job so far, i've never built a F1 car before, but i think i might go get one and build it.
Rob Hall Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Sweet... I've been an F1 fan since the '80s but have never built one in scale, though I do have an unbuilt Tamiya McLaren MP4/4.
curt raitz Posted October 7, 2009 Author Posted October 7, 2009 Very nice work. Are these cars relatively easy to build? The Fujimi F1 kits are difficult, just a lot of itty-bitty parts. Amazingly everything fits well. As I stated earlier both wing assemblies are very difficult to assemble...will need alot of patience. would not recommend this kit as your 1st jump into 1/20th scale F1 cars. Start out with one of the earlier Tamiya F1 kits before exploring the later Tamiya and Fujimi kits...

I know that the instructions can be hard to read with this kit as there are so many small parts and locations. It's difficult and I also find Fujimi's instructions hard to read compared to Tamiya's There is a lot of tiny parts in this kit with winglet options for different races. I tried to model this kit as it ran at Monaco.
