Something you mght want to ck out are plain old rubber O rings.

You can buy a lifetime assortmant at Harbor Freight for under $10 I think

Did you know that the first six holders of the "official" automobile land speed record were electric cars? And the seventh was steam powered! The first internal-combustion-powered land speed holder was the eighth one, and from then on the IC-powered vehicles were unbeaten... until the jet-powered cars came along.

The steam powered LSR car was the "Oldsmobile Rocket".

There was at least one 1/24 scale resin, and one 1/20 scale vacuformed kit of the 1960 Donald Campbell Proteus Bluebird.


Then there is a resin kit of the stillborn Mercedes T80 in 1/24.

Cool thread,

Although I've had an interest in these cars to build..

I can certaintly appreciate the effort it took to make the accomplishments they did.

I've seen the Goldenrod a few years when it was making the rounds on the show car circuit...that thing is tiny ,,,but looooooong
