Nick F40 Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 (edited) First, that wreck, what was Brahbam thinking? Like the prototype guys think they own the track Second, I don't know, by the name, the cars and technology, manufactures that are ACTUALLY competing and want to that help out with the street cars (I can name a few), and with the FDA EPA people, I think this is a more American sport I don't know, what do you think? Jon Cole Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Actually, I'm so fed up with "NAPCAR" *>YAWN!< that any other series would look better! While I admit I am no textbook of different racing series across the world, I am all for ANYTHING that would offer us road (NOT just oval!) racing using vehicles that have sheetmetal from ACTUAL automobiles! Maybe a Euro type SUPERCAR series, ALMS, anything other than the Series That Fails To Evolve! If I had a quarter for every negative NASCAR... um, I mean "NAPCAR" comment I have heard, or read, I would be rich!
Lownslow Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 im hoping the WTCC comes to the states i hope nascar burns in hell along with fox and the frances for screwing up the speed channel
Nick F40 Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 (edited) Your comments are hilarious! That's pretty much on the same level as I am, we need to make a voice!! Love the avatar I want to see WTCC over here bad, considering it's WORLD Touring cars. They should be like MOTOGP, you got worldy tracks and drivers and it's 100% better racing that way. I don't feel like having to pay for Dish though just for Discovery HD to probably watch all this coverage..... WHAT A FINISH!! Now that's racing and what it's all about! The reason why I love GT. Although that was good racing/bumping but the "too far" and spinning out the Vette? A little too bit, The Lizard gotten the championship so he had nothing to loose and I don't think one race would have made a huge difference. Nice Chaparral scheme and Gil's last race, what a race for him and his career. Edited October 11, 2009 by Nick F40
Zoom Zoom Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Holy c r a p! That was an amazing end to the race. Don't know what to think about the GT2 fiasco...that was a hair raising race at the end, rubbing fenders is one thing, but the Porsche didn't get a penalty for causing that wreck? I guess it's still true what they say about the difference between Porsches and porcupines
Nick F40 Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 Yeah same here. They probably won't though. They won the championship already though, so he shouldn't have gone that far, rubbing fenders is fine but running him into the wall and spinning him out? What's the difference? Does it have to do with your bottom?
ismaelg Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 My family asked what was going on with my screaming and yelling. That was going great but that wreck was not good. Trading paint is fine, but causing that wreck was not. Jan seems to be OK but it was scary.

Rubbing fenders is one thing...running someone into the wall to cause a wreck like that...not only bad sportsmanship, but considering they already had the title...why was it necessary? The Corvette was clearly faster. The difference...a porcupine's pr*cks are on the outside.

Nick F40 Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 Ok good, I feel better I wasn't the only one screaming my dogs looked at me and my dad just laughed. I can just imagine what that would have been like if the three of us would have been watching the race My family asked what was going on with my screaming and yelling. That was going great but that wreck was not good. Trading paint is fine, but causing that wreck was not. Jan seems to be OK but it was scary. yeah, I hope he's ok though. My poor Risi boys!!!
Brendan Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I just got back from the race less than an hour ago. Been driving for over 8 hours so I'm tired. You guys don't even want to know how much faster the Corvettes were over the other cars. At one point the Corvette made up over 1-2 second a lap over the Porsche. Also the #66 Acura was extremely fast. The biggest problem with the race was the third class of the GT3 Porsches. Those cars were way too slow, but they were faster than the new Jaguar. I'll try to get pictures up in the next couple of days.
Zoom Zoom Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 My poor Risi boys!!! I missed that part, what happened to them?

The Challenge class ain't TOO bad but yeah they are slower for sure but com one, you have to give some props on their first race and Gossens behind the wheel!
Nick F40 Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 I missed that part, what happened to them? 62 got into someone, I think another Porsche and just bent the carbon fibre tupperware and splitter but punctured the radiator and apparently it ended their day, which sucks considering they had a chance.....
Jon Cole Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Apparently I misunderstood the original question. I thought you were asking for op's on ALMS vs. other forms of racing. As for the race everyone is talking about, when was this ALMS race on TV? And how long was the race? I ask because they seem to trim (read "edit") the televised broadcast down, and that really is annoying.

Well it still is, as you posted but we decided to talk about the race also since there was such a great race and an intense finish. Yeah it is annoying that they do that, why trim it?
MikeMc Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 (edited) Yeah it is annoying that they do that, why trim it? Gotta fit all the commercials in..... you wouldn't want to miss any!!!! Edited October 13, 2009 by MikeMc
elan Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 You need to see an ALMS race in person, they are a ton of fun and the tickets are very reasonable (unlike CRASSCAR).
Nick F40 Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 You need to see an ALMS race in person, they are a ton of fun and the tickets are very reasonable (unlike CRASSCAR). Oh yeah, trust me I want to so bad! I realize sponsers but come on?
MikeMc Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Sponsors are OK....in ALMS a lot of teams owners company pours a lot of $$$ into the team and the hospitality tent is well stocked
935k3 Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 I think allot of people who do not like sports car racing would think differently if they actually went to a race. But I will always believe allot of followers of the 800lb Gorilla(in the US only) are not really car enthusiasts and do not know allot about them. If we had to rely on that series for automotive develepmont we would not enjoy the quality and the mileage we get in today's cars. I still watch F1 not because the racing is all that but I love the cars and the tracks they race on. Someone on another board mentioned how boring WRC was because it was only one car at a time running. I thank God my dad took me to Watkins Glen to see the Mclaren Can-Am cars race and to see Jackie Stewart win a Grand Prix there, it surely shaped my love of these cars for life. There is far more to the sport than how many cars can run together in a group and then crash. By the way there is going to be a 6hr race for the ALMS at laguna Seca next year, it replaces the dumbing down of sportscar series(also known as Daytona Prototypes).
Nick F40 Posted October 13, 2009 Author Posted October 13, 2009 Wow, that sums it all up right there, thanks!
Nick F40 Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 Yeah sorry for getting off my original topic but that was a bang up of a good race! We need and want more road racing for the reason given by Dale!
kitbash1 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Out of all the race's that I work in a season, the ALMS race at Mosport is my favourite. I've worked a lot of race's over the years and out side of the Trans Am series the ALMS series is the one that has the best and the closest racing. I just love those P1 & P2 battles.
Nick F40 Posted October 17, 2009 Author Posted October 17, 2009 You work at the races? lucky you! See your lucky up there because you have ice racing! Is it nice in Canada, because i'm thinking of moving there! I still think the GT class dominates with competition although if Ferrari gets into prototypes again it ought to be good.
