chris4q Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Here are some pictures of a Vintage 1/24 Monogram 40 Ford Pick-Up slot car that I just finished recently. The top photos show the start of the project and then the finish. I used some Monogram wheels from a Tiger chassis because I felt they looked better and I made the wheel inserts. This was a difficult project to start but it ended pretty well.
Eshaver Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Chris , yer making me feel really really old ! I can remember actually modifying such kits back in 1965 to go slot car racing with . That Maroon paint is outstanding ! Ed Shaver
purplehornies Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 That would be pretty sweet as a static model. The fact that you can actually drive it makes it that much better.
crazyjim Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Very nice. I didn't know there were still slot car tracks around. Back in my day the bodies were all clear plastic and we had to paint the inside in the body. I used to run a '40 Willys with a dynojet?? motor. The motor was cylinder shaped.
JayC Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Simply outstanding! That color is just too cool. That thing would be pretty cool to see go down the slot car track!

Cheers Ed
Raul_Perez Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 The paint work looks GREAT!! That is definately too nice to use as a slot car, (at least the way I drive them!!) Thanks for sharing,
oldskoolmini Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 that paint work is absolutely beautiful!
philo426 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Looks great! but it is so nice that I wouldn't want to race it due to the almost certain crash and roll-over that is a part of slot racing!
george 53 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 WoW! That's NICE!!! Slot cars ARE makein a comeback though(at least around here) There are 2 slot tracks just a few miles from my house. Check out somma Trans-Am Erics builds down in the slot car section. He builds some REALLY nice slotties! Yours came out GREAT!
RodBurNeR Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 WOW! That came out beautifully! The glue bomb you started with to what you have now....just amazing, very nice work! I am adding to my favorites so I can drool more later!
Tony T Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Wow, that is fabulous! Very nicely done! I have recently bought some 1/32 Eldon stuff - haven't set up a full track yet...I had a set back in the late 60s as a kid!
voljeepx Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 What a save on this kit! I am gonna go scouring junk boxes at yard sales to find glue bombs now! What color is that, it makes this truck really stand out!
