dwc43 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I'm watching an old movie called "Food for the Gods" It's an old H.G. Wells movie. Here's a link with the info about the movie. http://www.answers.com/topic/the-food-of-the-gods-film-1 Basically this substance makes all the animals on this island, accessed by ferry, to grow to sizes larger than human. These rats attack this old guy in a VW Beetle. Model car with rats crawling all over it. One grabs the passenger side door handle and rips the door off. The door had this vinyl look to it with red and white stripes. The outside was red with factory wheels and skinny tires. Another model was an RV. Old Winnebago type. White with the green stripe down the side. Had a little roll up awning made to the top of the passenger side. Rat crawling on the roof of it. Shaggy looking carpet looked pretty real too. There were models of a cabin and chicken barn that looked pretty real life too. The movie was stupid of course, but it wasted 2 hrs. and I had a cold so I did not feel like doing much of anything else. If you want to see some good modeling work, then you can find you a copy of it. I found some you tube clips too. Trailer has a shot of the cabin at the end with rats crawling on it. Here's part three with the VW in it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKEpO6w7spQ
roadhawg Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Good grief....Marjoe Gortner was in that movie! Lol! Whatever happened to him? I always enjoyed the use of models in movies and TV shows, which is why I'm a big Gerry Anderson fan. I've never heard of this movie...I checked Hulu.com and they don't have it. I'll be on the lookout for it, Hope yer cold gets better.
Guest Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Could you post some pics? I have dialup and it takes too long to load video.

The white and green W is in this list of pics with rats all over it. http://www.stomptokyo.com/movies/f/food-of-the-gods.html

dwc43 Posted October 19, 2009 Author Posted October 19, 2009 I remember watching this old movie at the drive-in many many years ago. I still remember the closing scene where cattle were drinking water from a stream when a jar of the "food" came floating by. That's the ending. Along with the closing speech. And it showed kids drinking milk in the classroom too.
mageckman Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I've watched this film several times on the sci-fi channel. definately a B movie. The modelling work was actually pretty good, but the "special effects"... well, I'll just leave it at that.
Chuck Most Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I've watched this film several times on the sci-fi channel. definately a B movie. The modelling work was actually pretty good, but the "special effects"... well, I'll just leave it at that. More like a C, D, or possibly F movie. I've gotten plenty of modeling ideas from movies, and some of them just hit out of the blue. Totally different movie, but in one of the Airport movies (no, not Airplane!), there's a scene with a Dodge A-100 pickup that's had it's doors and roof removed. It appeared to be some sort of crash response vehicle, and ever since I've seen that movie (can't remeber exactly which one of the movies it was, there were three or four of them), I've wanted to build one with the Lindberg LRW kit. Oh, here's one more useless fact- the Titanic in 'Night to Remember' was a scale model- I don't know what scale, but I seem to remember seeing pictures of the actual model online years ago.
Harold Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Good luck getting the Orkin man to tackle this job....
