RodBurNeR Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I see you got it cleared, looks sooooo nice bro! You are the reason I will be torturing my tape! Quote
Peter Lombardo Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I just flat out love it. Colors work perfectly. I just nails the panel paint jobs of the 50's. Quote
Jon Cole Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 WoW! That's just too kool! That's going to be a fine addition to those other great kustoms you make! Quote
vizio93 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 love the color skeem. looks really good so far ! Quote

cruz Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 That's awesome man, the color combination is just perfect!! Quote
Modellpularn Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Another great one, Zed! Were you inspired by that real '58 Chevy, painted kind of like yours, but it's wilder.... The owner never drives it. I have Pat Ganahl's Hot Rod video, where he shows the car. That car is a show car, with LOTS of chrome! Quote
randx0 Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 I absolutely love it!is it all done by masking ? I'm curious because I cant figure out how to add the pinstripe between the two main colors. Quote
58 Impala Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Wow. Nice job so far, thats alot of work to dechrome and smooth that kit. Beautiful paint, like the custom panel job. There was a car painted like that a while back in "The Rodders Journal". Looking foward to seeing it when you're done. Quote
Custom Hearse Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 That is simply AWESOME!!! I love it! I just wish I could paint that well. Quote

Zed Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 Another great one, Zed! Were you inspired by that real '58 Chevy, painted kind of like yours, but it's wilder.... The owner never drives it. I have Pat Ganahl's Hot Rod video, where he shows the car. That car is a show car, with LOTS of chrome! A lot of people on different boards have asked about that car ! i don't know if it's the same you're talking about , i think the name is Miller or something like that ... i wasn't inspired by that car because i didn't knew it when starting my project ! I was inspired by a rear view of Andy Southard car in his book , just the top of the rear fender ! That part was really nicely done, but i don't dig the rest... even if the car look great ! I wanted the same kind of panel on the top of the rear fenders on mine , and did the rest of the car to go with them Quote
Zed Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 I absolutely love it!is it all done by masking ? I'm curious because I cant figure out how to add the pinstripe between the two main colors. i did it first this is how i did it first i spray the color that will be the outlining Hosted on Fotki then i put some thin masking tape ( 1 mm ) to draw the panel Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki then i spay the dark blue in the panels Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki then masking tape on the panel Hosted on Fotki and i spray the body (last) color . Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki hope it helps Quote
Foxer Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Very interesting! Can I ask how you cut the rounded corners of the tape when masking off the big panels? Cut right on the body? Quote
randx0 Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Thanks for the run down .I can't tell you how much it helps seeing it done although you make it look easy I know from previous attempts with even just two colors it is not.I'm gonna give it a try. Quote
RodneyBad Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Thanks for the run down .I can't tell you how much it helps seeing it done although you make it look easy I know from previous attempts with even just two colors it is not.I'm gonna give it a try. Ditto. The paint looks AWESOME!! and my Fav Yr Chev.. Quote
Alyn Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Between this car and you Ford, I am definitely inspired to attempt this style of paint job. I have to think many others are as well. So not only congrats on a beautiful paint job, but also thanks for providing such great examples and setting the bar. I'm sure I have a car in my stash suitable for this style. Now if I only had the guts ! Quote
